Removal [06/2019 - 05/2023]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

  2. REMOVE NO. 2 DECK BOARD 
  3. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE 

    Refer to PRECAUTION [01/2017 - 05/2023]

  4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [01/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [04/2020 - 05/2023]

  5. PARKING LOCK FORCED RELEASE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  6. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT TO FRAME SEAL RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  7. REMOVE LOWER RADIATOR AIR DEFLECTOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  8. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Lift the V-bank cover sub-assembly to detach the 3 clips in the order shown in the illustration, and remove the V-bank cover sub-assembly.

      Areas to place hands when lifting cover
      NOTE:

      If the V-bank cover sub-assembly is lifted rearward or forward and to the right or left at the same time, the V-bank cover sub-assembly may be damaged.

  9. REMOVE SERVICE PLUG GRIP 

    Refer to REMOVAL [01/2017 - 05/2023]

  10. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  11. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  12. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  13. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  14. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 15 screws, 3 clips and No. 1 engine under cover assembly.

  15. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 10 bolts, clip and No. 2 engine under cover assembly.

      Remove the 4 bolts and strut bar bracket support sub-assembly.

  17. DRAIN ENGINE OIL

  18. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  19. DRAIN COOLANT (for Inverter)

  20. DRAIN HYBRID TRANSMISSION FLUID 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [01/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [04/2020 - ]

  21. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT TO CROSSMEMBER BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  22. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT TO CROSSMEMBER BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  23. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  24. DISCONNECT NO. 2 PCV HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  25. REMOVE AIR CLEANER WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  26. REMOVE INVERTER TERMINAL COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  27. DISCONNECT MOTOR CABLE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19

  28. DISCONNECT GENERATOR CABLE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18

  29. DISCONNECT NO. 1 FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE 
    1. Disconnect the No. 1 fuel vapor feed hose from the purge VSV.

  30. DISCONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 26

  31. DISCONNECT NO. 3 RADIATOR HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 27

  32. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE 
    1. Slide the clamp and disconnect the inlet heater water hose from the No. 3 water by-pass hose assembly.

  33. DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE 
    1. Slide the clamp and disconnect the outlet heater water hose from the No. 2 water by-pass pipe assembly.

  34. DISCONNECT WATER HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  35. DISCONNECT NO. 2 OIL COOLER OUTLET HOSE

  36. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER HOSE

  37. DISCONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  39. REMOVE NO. 2 RELAY BLOCK COVER 
    1. Detach the 4 claws and remove the No. 2 relay block cover.

  40. REMOVE ECM 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  41. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE 
    1. Detach the clamp and 2 claws.

    2. Disconnect the 3 connectors and engine wire from the relay block.

  42. DISCONNECT NO. 3 ENGINE ROOM WIRE

    1. Remove the 2 bolts of the No. 3 engine room wire.
    2. Disconnect the 2 connectors and No. 3 engine room wire.
    3. Disconnect the connector and air conditioning wire.
  43. DISCONNECT NO. 3 ENGINE WIRE 
    1. Remove the bolt, 2 clamps and disconnect the No. 3 engine wire.

  44. DISCONNECT FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Detach the clamp and disconnect the fuel tube sub-assembly from the fuel main tube connector.

  45. DISCONNECT NO. 2 FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Detach the clamp and disconnect the No. 2 fuel tube sub-assembly from the fuel pipe.

  46. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  58. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  59. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL TANK PROTECTOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  60. REMOVE PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  61. DISCONNECT STEERING SLIDING WITH SHAFT YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  62. DISCONNECT FRONT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  63. DISCONNECT FRONT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE RH 

    HINT: 

    Remove the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

  64. DISCONNECT FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  65. DISCONNECT FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Remove the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

  66. DISCONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  67. DISCONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Remove the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

  68. REMOVE FRONT DISC LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  69. REMOVE FRONT DISC RH 

    HINT: 

    Remove the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

  70. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  71. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Remove the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

  72. DISCONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  73. DISCONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Remove the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

  74. DISCONNECT FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH

  75. DISCONNECT FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Remove the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

  76. DISCONNECT STEERING KNUCKLE LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  77. DISCONNECT STEERING KNUCKLE RH 

    HINT: 

    Remove the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

  78. REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE LH 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and steering knuckle LH.

  79. REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE RH 

    HINT: 

    Remove the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

  80. REMOVE ENGINE SIDE COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  81. REMOVE ENGINE SIDE COVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Remove the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

  82. REMOVE REAR LOWER ARM MOUNTING REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  83. REMOVE REAR LOWER ARM MOUNTING REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Remove the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

  84. INSTALL ENGINE HANGER 
    1. Install the No. 1 engine hanger and No. 2 engine hanger with the 4 bolts as shown in the illustration.

      Torque: 33 N.m (337 kgf/cm, 24 ft.lbf)

  85. DISCONNECT NO. 2 PARKING LOCK RELEASE CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Detach the 2 claws and disconnect the cover from the No. 2 parking lock release cable assembly as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disconnect the parking lock release lever assembly cable end from the No. 2 parking lock release cable assembly cable end.

  86. DISCONNECT NO. 2 GROUND WIRE 
    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the No. 2 ground wire.

  87. REMOVE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY 
    1. Set the engine on an engine lifter.

      Place Wooden Block or Plate Attachments
      NOTE:
      • Place wooden blocks or plate lift attachments so that the engine is level.
      • With the exception of installing the engine assembly to an engine stand or removing the engine assembly from an engine stand, do not perform any work on the engine while it is suspended, as doing so is dangerous.
      • Never install attachments to the oil pan of the engine assembly or transmission as doing so may deform the oil pan.
    2. Remove the 6 bolts, and then separate the rear engine mounting member.

    3. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts shown in the illustration.

    4. Operate the engine lifter, then slowly remove the engine and transmission assembly from the vehicle.
      NOTE:
      • Make sure the engine is clear of all wiring and hoses.
      • While lowering the engine from the vehicle, do not allow it to contact the vehicle.
    5. Attach an engine sling device and hang the engine with a chain block.
      NOTE:

      Pay attention to the angle of the sling device as the engine assembly or engine hangers may be damaged or deformed if the angle is incorrect.

  96. REMOVE TRANSMISSION INPUT DAMPER COVER ASSEMBLY

  98. DISCONNECT FRONT FRAME CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, then disconnect the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly from the engine.

  99. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 

    HINT: 

    Only perform this procedure when replacement of the engine mounting insulator is necessary.

    1. Remove the 2 nuts and front engine mounting insulator RH and LH.

  101. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20 [01/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20 [04/2020 - 05/2023]

  102. INSTALL ENGINE ON ENGINE STAND 
    1. Install the engine to an engine stand with bolts.
      NOTE:
      • Pay attention to the angle of the sling device as the engine assembly or engine hangers may be damaged or deformed if the angle is incorrect.
      • With the exception of installing the engine assembly to an engine stand or removing the engine assembly from an engine stand, do not perform any work on the engine while it is suspended, as doing so is dangerous.
    2. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 engine hangers.
