Removal [01/2017 - 05/2023]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14 [01/2017 - 06/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14 [06/2019 - 05/2023]

  2. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15 [01/2017 - 06/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15 [06/2019 - 05/2023]

  3. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [01/2017 - 06/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [06/2019 - 05/2023]

  4. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  5. CHECK FOR DTC 
    WARNING:
    • Confirm that DTC P0AA6-49 (Hybrid/EV Battery Voltage System Isolation Internal Electronic Failure), P1C7C-49 (Hybrid/EV Battery Voltage System Isolation (A/C Area) Internal Electronic Failure), P1C7D-49 (Hybrid/EV Battery Voltage System Isolation (Hybrid/EV Battery Area) Internal Electronic Failure), P1C7E-49 (Hybrid/EV Battery Voltage System Isolation (Transaxle Area) Internal Electronic Failure) or P1C7F-49 (Hybrid/EV Battery Voltage System Isolation (Direct Current Area) Internal Electronic Failure) is not output before removing or installing the HV battery assembly. If this DTC is output, perform troubleshooting for this DTC first.
    • To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not perform troubleshooting before checking for DTCs.

  6. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [01/2017 - 05/2023]

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 DECK BOARD 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [01/2017 - 01/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12 [01/2021 - 05/2023]

  8. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

    WARNING:
    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [01/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [04/2020 - 05/2023]

  9. REMOVE SERVICE PLUG GRIP 

    Refer to REMOVAL [01/2017 - 05/2023]

  10. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE 
    1. Remove the connector cover assembly.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

    2. Check the terminal voltage.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

    3. Install the connector cover assembly.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  11. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT TO CROSSMEMBER BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and radiator support to crossmember brace sub-assembly LH.

  12. DISCONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the discharge hose sub-assembly from the compressor with motor assembly.

      NOTE:

      Do not apply excessive force to the discharge hose sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the discharge hose sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent moisture and foreign matter from entering them.

  13. REMOVE SUCTION HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY A 
    1. Remove the bolt, nut and suction hose sub-assembly A from the compressor with motor assembly.

      NOTE:

      Do not apply excessive force to the suction hose sub-assembly A.

    2. Remove the 2 O-rings from the suction hose sub-assembly A.
      NOTE:

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent moisture and foreign matter from entering them.

  14. REMOVE COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connector (A).

    2. Remove the bolt (A) and disconnect the wiring harness clamp bracket (bolt (A) fastening side).
    3. Remove the bolt (B) and disconnect the wiring harness clamp bracket (bolt (B) fastening side).
    4. Remove the bolt (C) and disconnect the wiring harness clamp bracket (bolt (C) fastening side).

      *a Green-colored Lock

    5. Slide the green-colored lock of the connector (B) as shown in the illustration to release it and disconnect the connector.
      WARNING:

      Make sure to wear insulating gloves.

      NOTE:

      Insulate the disconnected terminals and connector with vinyl tape.

    6. Remove the 2 nuts, bolt (D) and bolt (E).

      HINT: 

      At this point, bolt (E) interferes with the front frame crossmember sub-assembly. Therefore, it cannot be pulled out from the compressor with motor assembly.

    7. Using an E8 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 stud bolts and compressor with motor assembly.

      NOTE:

      Do not drop or subject the parts to any impact.
