Removal [08/2020 - ]: Procedure
- RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1
- DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1
- PRECAUTION NOTE:
After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ] ).
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2019 - 08/2021] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2021 - 08/2022] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2022 - ] ).
- REMOVE HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] )
- REMOVE LOWER FRONT BUMPER COVER
- Remove the clip, 5 bolts and lower front bumper cover.
- REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE TRANSMISSION UNDER COVER
- Remove the 2 bolts and transmission under cover.
- REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 4 bolts and rear engine under cover assembly.
- REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL LH
- Remove the 7 clips and front fender apron seal LH.
- REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH
- Remove the 4 clips and front fender apron seal RH.
- REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FENDER APRON TO FRAME SEAL LH
- Remove the 5 clips and front No. 1 fender apron to frame seal LH.
- REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FENDER APRON TO FRAME SEAL RH
- Remove the 5 clips and front No. 1 fender apron to frame seal RH.
- REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SEAL
- REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
- REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER
- DRAIN ENGINE OIL

- DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

- REMOVE BATTERY
- REMOVE BATTERY TRAY
- REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER

- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP AND HOSE
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE RADIATOR SIDE DEFLECTOR LH

- REMOVE RADIATOR SIDE DEFLECTOR RH

- REMOVE RADIATOR RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY

- DISCONNECT NO. 12 WATER BY-PASS HOSE

- DISCONNECT FUEL HOSE AND NO. 2 FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 2 fuel pipe clamps from the fuel tube connector.TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION
*1 Fuel Hose *2 No. 2 Fuel Tube Sub-assembly - Disconnect the fuel hose and No. 2 fuel tube sub-assembly (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ] ).
- Remove the 2 fuel pipe clamps from the fuel tube connector.
- DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE
- for Engine Room LH Side:
- Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire.
- Remove the nut from the engine room relay block.TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION
*1 Engine Wire *2 Engine Room Relay Block - Using a small screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and disconnect the engine wire from the engine room relay block.
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the No. 2 engine wire and ground wire.TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION
*1 No. 2 Engine Wire *2 Ground Wire - Detach the wire harness clamp and disconnect the No. 2 engine wire.
- Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire.
- for Engine Room RH Side:
- Remove the lower instrument panel (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2019 - 08/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2021 - ] ).
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- for Engine Room LH Side:
- DISCONNECT OIL COOLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY
(Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] )
- REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY
(Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] )
- REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SETTING BOLT
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12
- REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY
(Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] )
- REMOVE REAR NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR
HINT:
Perform this procedure only when replacement of the rear No. 1 engine mounting insulator is necessary.
- REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY
- INSTALL ENGINE HANGER
- REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY
- Attach an engine sling device and hang the engine assembly with a chain block.TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION
*1 Engine Hanger *2 Engine Assembly *a 50° or less NOTE:When hanging the engine assembly, make sure to hang the engine assembly with the angle of the sling device at 50° or less. If not, the engine assembly or engine hangers may be damaged.
- Remove the 2 nuts and 4 bolts from the front engine mounting insulator LH and RH.TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION
Bolt Nut - Lift the engine assembly out of the vehicle carefully.NOTE:
Make sure the engine assembly is clear of all wiring, hoses and cables.
- Remove the front engine mounting insulator LH and RH.
- Place the engine assembly onto a workbench.
- Attach an engine sling device and hang the engine assembly with a chain block.
- REMOVE NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS PIPE
- INSTALL ENGINE STAND
- Install the engine assembly to an engine stand with bolts.
- Remove the 2 bolts and 2 engine hangers.
