Removal [04/2013 - 08/2015]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL ENGINE TO ENGINE STAND 

    Refer to REMOVAL [04/2013 - 08/2015]

  2. REMOVE ENGINE WIRE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  3. REMOVE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY (for High Pressure) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [04/2013 - 08/2015]

  4. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  5. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  6. REMOVE COMPRESSOR AND MAGNETIC CLUTCH (for 2WD) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  7. REMOVE OIL FILTER BRACKET (for AWD) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  8. REMOVE COMPRESSOR AND MAGNETIC CLUTCH (for AWD) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  9. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY 
    1. for 2WD:
      1. Remove the 5 bolts and V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly.

    2. for AWD:
      1. Remove the 4 bolts and V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly.

  10. REMOVE NO. 2 IDLER PULLEY SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  11. REMOVE WATER PUMP PULLEY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  12. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  13. REMOVE INJECTOR DRIVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  14. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  15. REMOVE WATER INLET ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 29

  16. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  17. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  18. REMOVE NO. 2 OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 35

  19. REMOVE OIL STRAINER WITH PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for AWD) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 36

  20. REMOVE OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 37

  21. REMOVE OIL STRAINER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 38

  22. REMOVE NO. 1 OIL PIPE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 21

  23. REMOVE NO. 2 OIL PIPE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 22

  24. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 33

  25. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 32

  26. REMOVE SPARK PLUG TUBE GASKET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 34

  27. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN OR BELT COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket.

    2. Remove the 25 bolts and 2 nuts.

    3. Remove the timing chain or belt cover sub-assembly by prying between the timing chain or belt cover sub-assembly and cylinder head sub-assembly, cylinder head LH or cylinder block sub-assembly with a screwdriver.

      *1 Protective Tape
      NOTE:

      Be careful not to damage the contact surfaces of the cylinder head, cylinder block sub-assembly and timing chain or belt cover sub-assembly.

      HINT: 

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    4. Remove the gasket.

  28. REMOVE TIMING GEAR CASE OR TIMING CHAIN CASE OIL SEAL 
    1. Using a screwdriver and wooden block, pry out the timing gear case or timing chain case oil seal.

      *1 Wooden Block
      *2 Protective Tape
      NOTE:

      Be careful not to damage the timing chain or belt cover sub-assembly and oil pump rotor set.

      HINT: 

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
