Parking Brake Pedal: Removal
- PRECAUTION CAUTION: Be sure to read the "PRECAUTION " thoroughly before servicing (See PRECAUTION ).
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Power Seat) (See Step 6 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Manual Seat) (See Step 7 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY (See Step 3 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (See Step 50 or 52 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (See Step 103 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE CENTER LOWER PILLAR GARNISH LH (See Step 108 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH (See Step 27 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (See Step 5 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE NO. 1 UPPER CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH (See Step 6 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE NO. 2 UPPER CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH (See Step 7 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (See Step 8 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY (See Step 11 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY (See Step 12 in REMOVAL )

- REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See Step 29 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (See Step 30 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (See Step 9 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL (for 2WD)

- REMOVE FRONT FLOOR SILENCER PAD (for 2WD)
Remove the front floor silencer pad.
- REMOVE NO. 2 REAR AIR DUCT (See Step 11 or 12 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 4WD)

- REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY (for 4GR-FSE)

Refer to the procedures up to "REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY" (See DISASSEMBLY ).
- REMOVE NO. 3 DASH PANEL INSULATOR PAD
Remove the No. 3 dash panel insulator pad.
- REMOVE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (See Step 14 in REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT UPPER FLOOR REAR SUB PANEL
- Turn back the floor carpet in order to remove the front floor rear upper sub panel.
- Disengage the 6 clamps.
- Remove the 4 bolts and front floor rear upper sub panel.
- REMOVE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY (for 2WD)
- Remove the parking brake return with damper spring.
- Remove the 2 bolts and separate the 2 No. 2 parking brake cable assemblies from the parking brake equalizer.
- Slide the rubber boot as shown in Fig 4 .
- Remove the parking brake equalizer from the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.
- Remove the 2 bolts and 3 nuts, and separate the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the body.
- Remove the 2 nuts and separate the instrument panel junction block assembly.
- Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.
- Remove the 3 nuts and parking brake pedal from the body.
- Pull up the parking brake pedal claw.
- Remove the lock nut and No. 1 wire adjusting nut of the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake pedal.
- Remove the clip and No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake pedal.
- REMOVE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY (for 4WD)
- Remove the parking brake return with damper spring.
- Remove the 2 bolts and separate the 2 No. 2 parking brake cable assemblies from the parking brake equalizer.
- Slide the rubber boot as shown in Fig 12 .
- Remove the parking brake equalizer from the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.
- Remove the 2 bolts and 3 nuts, and separate the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the body.
- Remove the 2 nuts and separate the instrument panel junction block assembly.
- Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.
- Remove the 3 nuts and parking brake pedal from the body.
- Pull up the parking brake pedal claw.
- Remove the lock nut and No. 1 wire adjusting nut of the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake pedal.
- Remove the clip and No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake pedal.
- REMOVE PARKING PEDAL PAD
- Disengage the claw and remove the perking pedal pad from the parking brake pedal.
