Parking Brake Pedal: Removal

  1. PRECAUTION 
    CAUTION: Be sure to read the "PRECAUTION " thoroughly before servicing (See PRECAUTION ).
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.
  3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Power Seat) (See Step 6 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  4. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Manual Seat) (See Step 7 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  5. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  6. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY (See Step 3 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  7. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (See Step 50 or 52 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  8. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (See Step 103 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  9. REMOVE CENTER LOWER PILLAR GARNISH LH (See Step 108 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH (See Step 27 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  11. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (See Step 5 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  12. REMOVE NO. 1 UPPER CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH (See Step 6 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  13. REMOVE NO. 2 UPPER CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH (See Step 7 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  14. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (See Step 8 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  15. REMOVE FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY (See Step 11 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  16. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY (See Step 12 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  17. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX (See Step 13 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  18. REMOVE SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL LH (See Step 28 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  19. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See Step 29 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  20. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (See Step 30 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  21. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (See Step 9 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  22. REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL (for 2WD) 

    HINT:

    (See REMOVAL ).

  23. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR SILENCER PAD (for 2WD) 

    Remove the front floor silencer pad.

  24. REMOVE NO. 2 REAR AIR DUCT (See Step 11 or 12 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  25. REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 4WD) 

    HINT:

    (See REMOVAL ).

  26. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY (for 4GR-FSE) 

    HINT:

    Refer to the procedures up to "REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY" (See DISASSEMBLY ).

  27. REMOVE NO. 3 DASH PANEL INSULATOR PAD 

    Remove the No. 3 dash panel insulator pad.

  28. REMOVE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (See Step 14 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  29. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FLOOR REAR SUB PANEL 
    1. Turn back the floor carpet in order to remove the front floor rear upper sub panel.
    2. Disengage the 6 clamps.
    3. Remove the 4 bolts and front floor rear upper sub panel.

  30. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) 
    1. Remove the parking brake return with damper spring.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the 2 No. 2 parking brake cable assemblies from the parking brake equalizer.

    3. Slide the rubber boot as shown in Fig 4 .

    4. Remove the parking brake equalizer from the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.

    5. Remove the 2 bolts and 3 nuts, and separate the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the body.

    6. Remove the 2 nuts and separate the instrument panel junction block assembly.

    7. Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.
    8. Remove the 3 nuts and parking brake pedal from the body.

    9. Pull up the parking brake pedal claw.
    10. Remove the lock nut and No. 1 wire adjusting nut of the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake pedal.
    11. Remove the clip and No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake pedal.

  31. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY (for 4WD) 
    1. Remove the parking brake return with damper spring.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the 2 No. 2 parking brake cable assemblies from the parking brake equalizer.

    3. Slide the rubber boot as shown in Fig 12 .

    4. Remove the parking brake equalizer from the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.

    5. Remove the 2 bolts and 3 nuts, and separate the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the body.

    6. Remove the 2 nuts and separate the instrument panel junction block assembly.

    7. Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.
    8. Remove the 3 nuts and parking brake pedal from the body.

    9. Pull up the parking brake pedal claw.
    10. Remove the lock nut and No. 1 wire adjusting nut of the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake pedal.
    11. Remove the clip and No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake pedal.

  32. REMOVE PARKING PEDAL PAD 
    1. Disengage the claw and remove the perking pedal pad from the parking brake pedal.
