Knuckle, Rear: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove the wheel mounting bolts, then the tire and wheel assembly.

  3. Remove wheel speed sensor retaining bolt (6) and wheel speed sensor (5) from knuckle.

  4. While a helper applies the brakes to keep the hub from rotating, remove the hub nut (1) from the halfshaft (2) and DISCARD  it.

    The used hub nut is not reusable.

  5. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to REAR BRAKE ROTOR, REMOVAL .
  6. Support the outer end of the spring link (6).
  7. Remove spring assembly. Refer to SPRING(S), REMOVAL .
  8. Remove the camber link (2) from the knuckle. Refer to LINK, SPRING, REMOVAL .

  9. Remove the trailing link (3) from the knuckle. Refer to LINK, TRAILING, REAR, REMOVAL .

  10. Remove the toe link (1) from the knuckle. Refer to LINK, SPRING, REMOVAL .

  11. Disconnect the shock absorber (1) from knuckle. Refer to SHOCK ABSORBER, SUSPENSION, REMOVAL .
  12. Remove the rear knuckle from vehicle.
  13. If necessary, remove the hub from the knuckle. Refer to HUB AND BEARING, REMOVAL .
