Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the shift control bracket. Refer to Transmission Control Bracket Replacement .
  2. Remove the steering column assembly. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
  3. Remove the right and left outer air outlet bezels. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Bezel Replacement - Right Side  and Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Bezel Replacement - Left Side .
  4. Remove the instrument panel assist handle. Refer to Instrument Panel Assist Handle Replacement .
  5. Remove the instrument panel inflatable restraint module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement .
  6. Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel with windshield defroster nozzle grille. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel with Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille Replacement .
  7. Remove the instrument panel cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  8. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .
  9. Remove the communication interface module. Refer to Communication Interface Module Replacement .
  10. Prior to removal of the carrier assembly, note the routing of the instrument panel wiring harness and connector locations to ensure proper reinstallation.
1 ALDL Screw (Qty: 2)
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten:  2.5 N.m (22 lb in)

2 Air Distributor Duct Outer Screw (Qty: 2)

Tighten:  2.5 N.m (22 lb in)

3 Air Distributor Duct Upper Screw (Qty: 2)

Tighten:  2.5 N.m (22 lb in)

4 Instrument Panel Carrier Upper Bolt (Qty: 3)

Tighten:  9 N.m (80 lb in)

5 Instrument Panel Carrier Screw (Qty: 10)

Tighten:  2.5 N.m (22 lb in)

6 Instrument Panel Carrier Nut (Qty: 4)

Tighten:  9 N.m (80 lb in)

7 Instrument Panel Carrier Assembly

Procedure

  1. Disconnect the instrument panel wiring harness from the instrument panel carrier assembly and position out of the way.
  2. When replacing the instrument panel carrier assembly, transfer all necessary components.
