Assemble Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove the engine from the engine stand.
  2. Put the engine down on a wooden pallet.

    Bolt (2) - Remove [4x]

  4. Remove the EN-49271-200  adapter (1) from the engine block.
  5. Automatic Transmission Flex Plate - Install - Automatic Transmission Flex Plate Replacement

    CAUTION:

    Fastener Caution

    NOTE:

    A second technician is required.

    Install the transmission to the engine.

    CAUTION:

    Tighten the transmission converter cover carefully to prevent it from becoming deformed. A deformed transmission converter cover may wear on the starting ring gear or the front wheel drive shaft resulting in noise emission and improper protecting properties.

    Install the transmission converter cover (2).

  8. Transmission Bolt (1, 2) - Install and tighten [2x] 58 N.m (43 lb ft)

    Transmission Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] 58 N.m (43 lb ft).

    Transmission Bolt (1) - Install and tighten 58 N.m (43 lb ft)

    Transmission Bolt (1, 2) - Install and tighten [2x] 58 N.m (43 lb ft)

  12. Remove the engine lifting device and the cable from the engine.

    Torque Converter @ Flex Plate - Install

    1. Turn the engine at the crankshaft pulley (2) clockwise with the EN-49979  holder (3) along with the EN-49979-100  pins and the EN-956-1  extension (4) until a torque converter bolt hole shows up.
      2. NOTE:

      Service may offer bolts without micro-encapsulated thread locking adhesive. If this is the case, apply thread locking adhesive to the bolt.

      If fasteners are micro-encapsulated, install NEW torque converter bolts. DO NOT reuse the old bolts.

    2. Install a NEW torque converter bolt (1) and tighten to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).
    3. Turn the engine at the crankshaft pulley clockwise 60 degrees.
    4. Install the next NEW torque converter bolt and tighten to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).
    5. Repeat the previous 2 steps until the sixth torque converter bolt is installed.
  14. Install the starter. Starter Replacement (1.6L Diesel LH7)
  15. Install the drive belt idler pulley. Belt Idler Pulley Installation 
  16. Install the drive belt tensioner. Drive Belt Tensioner Installation 
  17. Install the engine mount bracket. Engine Mount Bracket Installation

    Generator and Air Conditioning Compressor Belt (1) - Install

    Remove the suitable fixing pin (2) from the drive belt tensioner (1).

    1. Install a wrench (3) to the drive belt tensioner.
    2. Push the drive belt tensioner in arrow direction until the suitable fixing pin (2) can be removed.
  20. Air Conditioning Compressor - Install - Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (1.6L Diesel LH7)
  21. Install engine wiring harness.
  22. Generator and Starter Cable - Install - Generator and Starter Cable Replacement (1.6L Diesel LH7 with Automatic Transmission)
  23. Radiator Inlet Hose - Install - Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (1.6L Diesel LH7)
  24. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose - Install - Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose Replacement
  25. Radiator Outlet Hose - Install - Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (1.6L Diesel LH7)
  26. Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Hose - Install - Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Hose Replacement
  27. Front Wheel Drive Shaft @ Transmission - Install [2x] - Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement
