Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Install the transmission to the engine. Refer to Transmission Replacement
  2. Position the powertrain and support table under the vehicle.
  3. Raise the powertrain into position under the vehicle.
    NOTE: Ensure that all hoses, harnesses and pipes clear when raising the powertrain.
  4. With the table positioned, if required, carefully raise the engine table and lower the body on the hoist until the engine/transaxle and frame are connected.
  5. Install the drivetrain and front suspension cradle to the vehicle. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement
  6. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  7. Transmission Mount Bolt (4) Install NEW [3x] Transmission Mount Replacement

  8. Engine Mount Bolt (1) - Install NEW [3x] Engine Mount Replacement

  9. Generator Control Module Coolant Pump Bracket Bolt (1) - Install Generator Control Module Coolant Pump Replacement

    NOTE: Reposition the generator control module coolant pump and bracket to the frame.
  10. Intermediate Steering Shaft @ Steering Gear - Connect Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement

  12. Front Wheel Drive Shaft-Right Side (1) - Install Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Right Side (LFV, LKN)

  13. Stabilizer Shaft Link (2) @ Stabilizer Shaft - Connect [2x]

  14. Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe (2) @ Transmission - Install Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement (LKN With MKE)

    NOTE: Remove any previously installed covers prior to installing pipe.
  15. Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe (2) @ Transmission - Install Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement (LKN With MKE)

    NOTE: Remove any previously installed covers prior to installing pipe.
  16. Front Wheelhouse Liner - Left Side - Install Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement
  17. Exhaust Front Pipe - Install Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LKN)
  18. Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (1) - Connect [2x]
  19. Position the engine wiring harness (5) as needed.

  20. Wiring Harness Connector (1) @ Engine Wiring Harness Junction Block - Install
  21. Wiring Harness Connector (2) - Connect [2x]
  22. Ground Cable Nut (3) - Install and tighten 10 N.m (89 lb in)
  23. Engine Wiring Harness Clip Nut (4) - Install and tighten 10 N.m (89 lb in)
  24. Engine Wiring Harness Junction Block - Install Engine Wiring Harness Junction Block Replacement (With HP4)Engine Wiring Harness Junction Block Replacement (Without HP4)
  25. Engine Control Module Bracket - Install Engine Control Module Bracket Replacement
  26. Engine Wiring Harness (5) - Reposition
    NOTE: Reposition the wiring harness to the top of the engine.
  27. Drive Motor Power Inverter Module Coolant Pipe - Install Drive Motor Power Inverter Module Coolant Pipe Replacement (LKN)
  28. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  29. Range Selector Lever Cable (1) @ Transmission - Connect Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement

  30. Radiator Inlet Hose (2) @ Water Outlet - Connect Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LKN)

  34. Fuel Feed Front Pipe @ Fuel Injection Pump - Connect Fuel Feed Front Pipe Replacement

  38. Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose (2) @ Radiator Surge Tank - Connect Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose Replacement (LKN Radiator Surge Tank to Water Outlet to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Outlet Pipe)

  39. Air Cleaner Assembly - Install Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
  40. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct - Install Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement
  41. Recharge the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (LKN)
  42. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static)Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)
  43. Fill the drive motor generator power inverter module cooling system. Refer to Drive Motor Generator Power Inverter Module Cooling System Draining and Filling
  44. Enable the high voltage system. Refer to High Voltage Enabling
  45. Intake Manifold Cover (1) - Remove Intake Manifold Cover Replacement

  46. Check oil level, fill or change filter and oil as needed. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement 
  47. Check the transmission fluid for proper level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill
