Adjusting Both Tailgate Hinges

• Slacken nuts (1) until the tailgate hinge (2) can be shifted.
• Shift tailgate hinge (2) horizontally, till the Trunk lid has the specified gap dimension for the side panel.
• Tighten nuts (1).

  Tailgate hinge to body
  Nut M8
  	tightening torque	19 Nm

  NOTE: Perform the steps on the right and left side.
• Slacken the nut (1) until the hinge arm can be shifted.
• Shift the hinge arm vertically until the trunk lid has the specified gap dimension to the side panel.
• Tighten the nut (1).

  Check 

• Check the gap dimensions (arrows) between trunk lid and side panels.

  » Gap dimensions do not correspond to the specifications.

  Measure

  • Adjust tailgate hinge.

  Mounting electrical spindle drive on the right hinge arm 

  NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION 
  The notes on the disassembly and installation of ball sockets with clamps are the basis for these repair instructions and must be observed without fail.

• Before installing the electrical spindle drive (1) at the hinge arm, make sure that the retaining spring (2) is in its initial position.
• Check the retaining spring (2) for damage; if necessary, renew the electrical spindle drive (1) for the tailgate.

• Press the ball socket (1) onto the ball hub (2) at the hinge arm in the arrow direction until the retaining spring (3) snaps in correctly and audibly.

• Clip in the cable clip (2).
• Connect connectors (1) and lock.

• Left hinge arm:

  Check the clamp (1) is fitted correctly.

• Insert the ball socket of the tension spring (2) at the ball pin on the hinge arm.
