41 62 014 Adjusting Tailgate: Notes

IMPORTANT: Do not damage adjoining body components.
Minor corrections (realignment work) are permitted if the existing adjustment options are not sufficient.

Read relevant service information under BODY, GENERAL .

Observe BODY GAP DIMENSIONS .

The tailgate must be provided with all attachment parts for correct adjustment.

Version with automatic tailgate activation: 

Deactivate automatic tailgate activation by DISCONNECTING PLUG CONNECTIONS on control unit.

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage to spindle drive: only move tailgate slowly by hand.
If necessary, REMOVE SPINDLE DRIVE

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Slacken nuts (1) and (2) until such stage that the tailgate can still be moved.

Adjust tailgate laterally and longitudinally.

Tightening torque 41 62 1AZ .

When the tailgate is closed, the striker must not touch or scrape against the tailgate lock. If necessary, remove striker.

Adjusting height of tailgate in relation to side panel:

WARNING: Danger of injury!
Secure tailgate against dropping down.

NOTE: Parcel shelf is shown removed for purposes of clarity.

Slacken nut (1) with a suitable tool (SW13) until hinge can be moved.

Adjust height of tailgate.

Tightening torque 41 62 3AZ .

Adjust TAILGATE CATCH .

Adjust STOP PAD .
