51 24 004 Adjusting rear lid lock

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Prerequisite: 

Tailgate must be correctly adjusted to fit; if necessary, ADJUST TAILGATE .

For ideal setting, refer to BODY GAP DIMENSIONS .

Depending on version, press in or screw in bump stop (1) on tailgate on left and right completely.

Lever out protective cap (1).

Slacken screws until striker (1) can still just be moved and centers itself.

IMPORTANT: Striker (1) must not brush against tailgate lock.

Close tailgate.

Check BODY GAP DIMENSIONS and locking comfort.

If necessary, repeat procedure.

NOTE: When the tailgate is closed, the striker must not touch or scrape against the tailgate lock. Look out for scratch marks.

Open tailgate.

Tighten down screws.

Tightening torque 51 24 03AZ .

Adjust bump stops (1) on tailgate.

Version with reversing camera: 

After adjusting, check reversing camera and if necessary RECALIBRATE .
