51 16 200 Removing and installing storage tray

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove Panel For Rear Storage Box .
Remove Handbrake Lever Cover .
Remove Trim For Preselector Lever (gearshift lever).
Remove driving dynamics switch. See 61 31 287 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING DRIVING DYNAMICS SWITCH .
Remove display for passenger airbag deactivation. See 61 31 069 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING INDICATOR FOR FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG DEACTIVATION .
Remove switch unit in center console. See 61 31 057 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SWITCH IN CENTER CONSOLE .

Lever out trim (1) with special tool 00 9 318 (universal wedge) on both sides.

Release cap (2) on left/right.

Slide cover (3) in direction of arrow and remove.

Release screws (1) on left/right.

Remove center console (3); to do so, lift rear end and at same time pull towards rear and feed out from handbrake lever.

Installation:

Clips (2) must not be missing or damaged.

Installation:

Following parts of cover (3) must not be damaged or missing:

Guides (2)
Retaining lugs (1)

Installation:

Retaining lugs (2 and 4) of trim (1) and of cap (3) must not be damaged or missing.
