51 11 157 Replacing bumper panel, front

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove FRONT BUMPER TRIM .

Remove cover cap (1) for towing eye.

Remove cover for headlight cleaning system (2) on left/right. See COVER FOR HEADLIGHT CLEANING SYSTEM .

Remove front radiator grille (3) on left/right. See FRONT RADIATOR GRILL, MIDDLE LEFT OR RIGHT .

Remount fog light (4) on left/right and adjust (not M5). See FRONT FOG LAMPS .

If necessary, remove license plate (5). See BASEPLATE FOR LICENCE PLATE .

If necessary, remove baseplate for license plate.

Installation note:

Fracture line are applied to inside of bumper on the version with M Aerodynamic package and M5. They mark the drilling position for the number plate baseplate.

If necessary, remove wiring harness and PDC ultrasonic sensor (6). See ULTRASONIC TRANSDUCER AT FRONT (PARK DISTANCE CONTROL) .

Remove damping lip/spoiler (7).

Version after 03/2007:

Remove all ornamental grilles.

Version with M Aerodynamic package:

Remove fog light cover.

Remove ornamental grille in bumper panel. See TRIM GRILL IN BUMPER TRIM .

M5 only:

Remove ornamental grille in bumper panel. See GRILLE IN BUMPER TRIM (M5 OR M AERODYNAMIC KIT) .
