SUBFRAME, Securing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Subframe Locking Pin (2 pc.): T10463 

-- Refer to VEHICLE, SECURING TO HOIST LIFTING ARMS  .

-- Refer to SCISSOR LIFT TABLE PREPARING  .

-- Refer to SUBFRAME, LIFTING WITH SCISSOR LIFT TABLE  .

-- Replace the bolts -2- on the subframe -1- on both sides of the vehicle one after the other using the Subframe Locking Pin (2 pc.): T10463  .

-- Tighten the locating pins -A- using a suitable tool -B-.

-- Tighten the bolts on the subframe -1- one after another on both sides with the locating pins -A- and tighten to 20 Nm.

Vehicles with lock washers on the front bearing on the subframe 

-- Make sure, that no lock washers -1- are located between the vehicle and the locating pins.

Conditions

• Securing the subframe is not possible for vehicles with lock washers on the front bearing on the subframe.
• No lock washers -1- may be installed on the front bearing on the subframe -4- with non-ribbed surface -3-.

-- Remove the locating pins.

-- Replacing the lock washer -3-.

Conditions

• The lock washers -3- must be installed on both sides of the vehicle.

-- Insert the lock washer -3- with the locking tabs in the front bearing on the subframe -2-.

-- Perform the axle alignment. Refer to Axle Alignment .

Continuation for all vehicles

Installing 

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

-- Always only remove one threaded pin from the locating pins and replace it with a new bolt.

Tightening Specifications 

• Refer to OVERVIEW - SUBFRAME  .
• Refer to OVERVIEW - UNDER BODY TRIM PANELS, 55, 62 KWH , OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY TRIM PANELS, 82 KWH or OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY TRIM PANELS, 82 KWH GTX .
