Overview - Output Shaft

NOTE:
When installing new gear wheels or a new input shaft. Refer to the technical data. Refer to TRANSMISSION/ENGINE ALLOCATION and the parts information.
Insert all bearings, selector gears and synchronizer rings on output shaft with transmission fluid.
Do not exchange synchronizer rings, always allocate to original selector gear when reusing.
Wearing safety gloves, warm the gear wheels and the synchronizer hubs to approximately 100 °C (212 °F) using an Inductive Heater :VAS6414 before installing them.
- Clutch Housing
- Cylindrical Roller Bearing
- With circlip
- Removing. Refer to Remove The Roller Bearing From The Clutch Housing .
- Installing. Refer to Pressing Cylindrical Roller Bearing Into Cluth Housing .
- Installed position: the circlip inside the bearing points to the output shaft
- Output Shaft
- If a bearing inner race is available as a bearing seat for the roller bearing (refer to -item ) Cylindrical Roller Bearing-), this cannot be removed from the output shaft.
- Check bearing seat or cylindrical roller bearing inner race for grooves and damage
- If there are grooves or damage on the bearing inner race on the cylindrical roller bearing, then replace both the output shaft and cylindrical roller bearing.
- 4th Gear Wheel
- Installed position: shoulder faces 3rd gear. Refer to Installed Location Of 3RD & 4TH Gear Drive Gears .
- Circlip
- Always replace damaged or stretched circlips.
- Circlip
- Always replace damaged or stretched circlips.
- 3rd Gear Wheel
- Installed position: shoulder faces 4th gear. Refer to Installed Location Of 3RD & 4TH Gear Drive Gears .
- Circlip
- Always replace damaged or stretched circlips.
- 2nd Gear Wheel
- Needle Bearing
- For 2nd gear
- 2nd Gear Inner Race
- Checking for wear. Refer to Checking 1ST, 2ND & 3RD Gear Inner Ring For Wear .
- Installed position. Refer to Figure.
- 2nd Gear Outer Race
- Replace if there are grooves or scoring
- Lay on inner race. Refer to -item ) 2nd Gear Inner Race-.
- Installed position. Refer to Figure.
- 2nd Gear Synchronizer Ring
- Checking for wear. Refer to Gap Dimensions .
- Installed position. Refer to Figure.
- Locking Collar with Synchronizer Hub for 1st and 2nd Gears
- After removing the circlip, refer to -item ) Circlip-, remove with the 2nd gear wheel. Refer to Locking Collar/Synchronizer Hub For 1ST & 2ND Gears .
- Disassembling. Refer to Figure.
- Assembling the locking collar/synchronizer hub. Refer to Figure and Assembling Locking Collar/Synchronizer Hub For 1ST & 2ND Gears .
- Installed position. Refer to Figure.
- Installing. Refer to Installing The Locking Collar/Synchronizer Hub For 1ST & 2ND Gears .
- Circlip
- Press out. Refer to Removing The Locking Ring -1- .
- Inserting. Refer to Circlip Installing .
- 1st Gear Synchronizer Ring
- Checking for wear. Refer to Gap Dimensions .
- Insert it so that the holes engage into engagement pieces of locking collar. Refer to -item ) Locking Collar with Synchronizer Hub for 1st and 2nd Gears-.
- 1st Gear Outer Race
- Install in synchronizer ring. Refer to -item ) 1st Gear Synchronizer Ring-.
- Installed position. Refer to Installed Position 1ST Gear Outer Race .
- Replace if there are grooves or scoring
- 1st Gear Inner Race
- Checking for wear. Refer to Checking 1ST, 2ND & 3RD Gear Inner Ring For Wear .
- Check for scoring
- Installed position. Refer to Installed Position Of 1ST Gear Inner Race -A- .
- Needle Bearing
- For 1st gear
- 1st Gear Wheel
- Installed position. Refer to Installation Location Of 1ST Gear Selector Gear .
- Bearing Mount with Grooved Ball Bearing
- Only replace grooved ball bearing together with bearing mount
- if bearing mount is removed from transmission housing, it must always be replaced
- Removing. Refer to Figure
- Installing. Refer to Install the Bearing Mount with Grooved Ball Bearing onto the Input and Output Shafts .
- Transmission Housing
- 5th Gear Wheel
- Installed position: the collar faces the transmission housing cover. Refer to TRANSMISSION, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING => Installed Position of Drive Gear for 5th Gear -1- :
- Circlip
- Replace after removing
- Selecting thickness. Refer to TRANSMISSION, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING - Select a new locking ring -arrow-. .
- Spring
- Installed position. Refer to Assembling Locking Collar/Synchronizer Hub For 1ST & 2ND Gears .
