Driver And Passenger Side Airbag
Removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle is described here. Removing and installing on the right side is identical.
Removal
Read the Safety Instructions for working with airbags, belt tensioners and battery cut-out units. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
-- Disconnect vehicle battery. Refer to [For transmission(s) 0A4, 02E, 09G, 02Q] [For engine(s) BRM, BGP, BPY, BGQ, CBTA, CBEA, CJAA, CBUA, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation
-- Remove left front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT .
-- Remove right trim on seat:
- Seat without folding backrest. Refer to RIGHT SEAT TRIM .
- Seat with folding backrest. Refer to LEFT FOLDING PASSENGER SEAT TRIM .
Vehicles with Manual Seat Adjustment
-- Remove left trim on seat:
- Seat without folding backrest. Refer to LEFT SEAT TRIM .
- Seat with folding backrest. Refer to RIGHT FOLDING PASSENGER SEAT TRIM .
Vehicles with Electric Seat Adjustment
-- Remove left power seat trim. Refer to POWER SEAT TRIM, LEFT .
All Vehicles
-- Remove front seat backrest. Refer to LEFT FRONT SEAT BACKREST .
-- Remove cover and upholstery from front seat backrests. Refer to FRONT SEAT BACKREST COVER AND UPHOLSTERY .
-- Separate wiring harness -1- from backrest frame.
-- Remove bolt -2- (9 Nm).
-- Remove side airbag -3- from mounting in backrest frame.
Installation
-- To install, perform the steps used for removal in reverse order.
-- Switch on ignition.
Make sure that no persons are in the vehicle.
-- Connect vehicle battery. Refer to [For transmission(s) 0A4, 02E, 09G, 02Q] [For engine(s) BRM, BGP, BPY, BGQ, CBTA, CBEA, CJAA, CBUA, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .
