Removal [09/2022 - 11/2022]: Procedure

  1. SECURE VEHICLE 
    1. Fully apply the parking brake and chock a wheel.
      WARNING:
      • Make sure to apply the parking brake and chock a wheel before performing this procedure.

      • If the vehicle is not secure and the shift lever is moved to neutral, the vehicle may suddenly move, possibly resulting in an accident or serious injury.
  2. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    Refer to BEFORE DISCONNECTING BATTERY [09/2022 - ]

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  4. REMOVE BATTERY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - 11/2022]

  5. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - 11/2022]

  6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  7. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  8. REMOVE INLET NO. 1 AIR CLEANER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  9. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  10. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  11. REMOVE ECM 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  12. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE 
    1. Remove the bolt and nut to disconnect the engine wire from the battery clamp sub-assembly.

  13. REMOVE BATTERY CLAMP SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  14. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR CENTER BRACE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  15. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Rear Catalyst) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [01/2019 - 11/2022]

  16. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the 3 nuts and front No. 1 floor heat insulator from the vehicle body.

  17. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the clip and disconnect the transmission control select cable from the floor shift lever assembly.

      *a Transmission Control Select Cable
      *b Transmission Control Shift Cable
    2. Disconnect the transmission control shift cable from the floor shift lever assembly.
    3. Using a screwdriver, pull out the stopper of the transmission control select cable.
      NOTE:

      Do not remove the stopper. If it is removed, reinstall it to its original position.

    4. Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control select cable from the shift lever assembly.

      NOTE:
      • Do not rotate the nut excessively as the internal spring may jump out and the transmission control cable assembly will not be reusable.
      • Do not forcibly pull the transmission control cable assembly into the cabin.
    5. Disconnect the transmission control shift cable from the floor shift lever assembly in the same manner as the transmission control select cable.
    6. Remove the 2 clips (A) to disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the manual transaxle assembly.

    7. Remove the 2 clips (B) to disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the control cable bracket assembly.
    8. Remove the nut.

    9. Disengage the guide and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the vehicle body.
    10. Remove the 2 nuts and transmission control cable assembly from the vehicle body.
