Removal [08/2019 - ]: Procedure

  1. OPEN BACK DOOR 
    1. Open the back door before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, as some procedures are performed with the back door open.
      NOTE:

      The back door cannot be opened after the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

  2. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ]

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2017 - ]

  4. REMOVE TONNEAU COVER ASSEMBLY (w/o Rear No. 2 Seat) 
    1. Remove the tonneau cover assembly.
  5. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SEAT ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Rear No. 2 Seat) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ]

  6. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SEAT ASSEMBLY RH (w/ Rear No. 2 Seat) 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  7. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

    1. Detach the 7 claws and 4 clips, and remove the front door scuff plate LH.
  8. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  9. REMOVE REAR STEP COVER 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for both rear step covers.

      Detach the 2 claws and remove the rear step cover.

  10. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

    1. Remove the screw.
    2. Detach the 3 claws and 4 clips, and remove the rear door scuff plate LH.
  11. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  12. REMOVE REAR FLOOR MAT REAR SUPPORT PLATE

    1. Detach the 6 clips and remove the rear floor mat support plate.
  13. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP SUBASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for both assist grip sub-assemblies.

      Detach the 4 claws and remove the 2 assist grip plugs.

      Remove the 2 bolts.

    3. Detach the 2 claws and remove the assist grip subassembly.
  14. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH

    1. Detach the clip and 3 guides.
    2. Disconnect the speaker connector and then remove the front pillar garnish LH.

      *1 Curtain Shield Airbag Assembly LH
      *a Protective Cover
      Adhesive Tape

      Protect the curtain shield airbag.

      1. Thoroughly cover the airbag with a cloth or nylon sheet and fix the ends of the cover with adhesive tape, as shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:

        Cover the curtain shield airbag with a protective cover as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.

  15. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  16. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH COVER LH 

    HINT: 

    • When removing the center pillar garnish cover LH, connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal and operate the power seat switch to move the front seat and seatback to the foremost upright position.
    • After moving the front seat, disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      Detach the 2 clips and 2 guides, and remove the center pillar garnish cover LH.

  17. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH COVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  18. REMOVE CENTER LOWER PILLAR GARNISH LH 

    HINT: 

    • When removing the center lower pillar garnish LH, connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal and operate the power seat switch to move the front seat and seatback to the foremost upright position.
    • After moving the front seat, disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      Remove the bolt and seat belt anchor.

      Detach the 2 claws and 7 clips, and remove the center lower pillar garnish LH.

  19. REMOVE CENTER LOWER PILLAR GARNISH RH 

    HINT: 

    • When removing the center lower pillar garnish RH, connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal and operate the power seat switch to move the front seat and seatback to the foremost upright position.
    • After moving the front seat, disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      Disconnect the connector.

    2. Remove the bolt and seat belt anchor.

      Detach the 2 claws and 7 clips, and remove the center lower pillar garnish RH.

  20. REMOVE REAR ASSIST GRIP ASSEMBLY

      Detach the 4 claws and remove the 2 assist grip plugs.

      Remove the 2 bolts.

    3. Detach the 2 claws and remove the rear assist grip assembly.

    1. Remove the bolt.
    2. Detach the 2 clips and 2 guides.
    3. Pass the seat belt anchor through the center pillar garnish, and remove the center pillar garnish LH.
  22. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  23. REMOVE NO. 1 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM HOOK 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for both No. 1 luggage compartment trim hooks.

      Remove the luggage compartment trim hook by turning it clockwise.

  24. REMOVE NO. 1 TONNEAU COVER HOLDER CAP (w/o Rear No. 2 Seat)

    Use the same procedure for both No. 1 tonneau cover holder caps.

    1. Detach the 2 claws and remove the No. 1 tonneau cover holder cap.
  25. REMOVE REAR SEAT COVER CAP (w/ Rear No. 2 Seat)

      Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 claws and remove the rear seat cover cap.

      HINT:

      4. Disconnect the thermistor connector, power outlet socket connector and rear seat lock control lever cable, and then remove the front quarter trim panel assembly LH.

    4. w/o Rear No. 2 Seat:
      1. Remove the clip, screw and bolt.
      2. Detach the 18 clips and 2 claws.
      3. Disconnect the thermistor connector and power outlet socket connector.

    4. w/o Rear No. 2 Seat:
      1. Remove the clip, screw and bolt.
      2. Detach the 16 clips and 2 claws.
      3. Disconnect the thermistor connector and then remove the front quarter trim panel assembly RH.

      Remove the roof headlining assembly from the rear of the vehicle as shown in the illustration.

      NOTE:

      Be careful not to damage the roof headlining assembly when taking it out.
