DTC P1703-00: AT Solenoid Output Malfunction [06/2018 - 09/2024]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P1703-00) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Transmission / Trouble Codes.

      Powertrain > Transmission > Trouble Codes 

    5. Read the DTCs using the Techstream.

      HINT: 

      If any DTCs other than P1703-00 are output, perform troubleshooting for those DTCs first.

      Result

      Only DTC P1703-00 is output A
      DTC P1703-00 and other DTCs are output B

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART 

    Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2018 - 01/2019] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [01/2019 - 03/2019] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [03/2019 - 06/2021] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [09/2022 - 11/2022] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2022 - 09/2024]

  2. INSPECT CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY (SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL1, SL2, SLG) 
    1. Disconnect the C61 transmission wire connector.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Transmission Wire)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (SL1+) - 7 (SL1-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      3 (SL2+) - 8 (SL2-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      1 (SLG+) - 6 (SLG-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      2 (SL1+) or 7 (SL1-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (SL2+) or 8 (SL2-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      1 (SLG+) or 6 (SLG-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Connect the C61 transmission wire connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - TCM) 
    1. Disconnect the C80 TCM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C80-38 (SL1+) - C80-37 (SL1-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      C80-19 (SL2+) - C80-20 (SL2-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      C80-21 (SLG+) - C80-22 (SLG-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      C80-38 (SL1+) or C80-37 (SL1-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C80-19 (SL2+) or C80-20 (SL2-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C80-21 (SLG+) or C80-22 (SLG-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Connect the C80 TCM connector.

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - TCM)

  4. REPLACE TCM 
    1. Replace the TCM.

      Refer to COMPONENTS [06/2018 - 01/2019] , or refer to COMPONENTS [01/2019 - 03/2019] , or refer to COMPONENTS [03/2019 - 09/2024]

    PERFORM REGISTRATION AND INITIALIZATION 

    for Registration: Refer to REGISTRATION [06/2018 - 09/2024]

    for Initialization: Refer to INITIALIZATION [06/2018 - 09/2022] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2022 - 11/2022] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2022 - 09/2024]

  5. INSPECT TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY (SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL1, SL2 AND SLG) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector from the shift solenoid valves SL1, SL2 and SLG.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - 11/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [11/2022 - 09/2024]

      *1 Transmission Valve Body Assembly *2 Shift Solenoid Valve SLG
      *3 Shift Solenoid Valve SL1 *4 Shift Solenoid Valve SL2

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Shift solenoid valve SL1 connector terminal 1 - terminal 2 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      Shift solenoid valve SL2 connector terminal 1 - terminal 2 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      Shift solenoid valve SLG connector terminal 1 - terminal 2 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE

  6. REPLACE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

      Refer to COMPONENTS [06/2018 - 01/2019] , or refer to COMPONENTS [01/2019 - 04/2020] , or refer to COMPONENTS [04/2020 - 06/2021] , or refer to COMPONENTS [06/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to COMPONENTS [09/2022 - 03/2023] , or refer to COMPONENTS [03/2023 - 09/2024]
