Lower Instrument Panel: Removal

  1. PRECAUTION 

    (See PRECAUTION )

  2. TURN FRONT WHEELS TO FACE STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
  4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE STEERING PAD  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  10. REMOVE METER HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  11. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  12. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  13. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (w/o Curtain Shield Airbag) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  14. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (w/ Curtain Shield Airbag) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  15. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  16. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH (w/o Curtain Shield Airbag) 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  17. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH (w/ Curtain Shield Airbag) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  18. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  19. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  20. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  21. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  22. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  23. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  24. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX DOOR SUB-ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  25. DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  26. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  27. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (w/o Navigation System)  (See REMOVAL )
  28. REMOVE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (w/ Navigation System)  (See REMOVAL )
  29. REMOVE NAVIGATION ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Navigation System)  (See REMOVAL )
  30. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING PANEL ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  31. REMOVE FRONT UPPER CONSOLE BOX 
    1. Disengage the 8 claws and remove the front upper console box.

  32. REMOVE NO. 2 SWITCH HOLE BASE 
    1. Disengage the 6 claws.
    2. Disconnect each connector and remove the No. 2 switch hole base.
  33. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET 
  34. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  35. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (for 4WD) (See  REMOVAL  )

  36. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT 
    1. Disengage the 3 claws and guide to remove the front No. 1 console box insert.

  37. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT 
    1. Disengage the 3 claws and guide to remove the front No. 2 console box insert.

  38. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (for Manual Transaxle) 
    1. Remove the 2 clips.
    2. Disengage the 6 claws and remove the lower center instrument panel finish panel.

  39. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (for Automatic Transaxle) 
    1. Remove the screw <B> and 2 clips.
    2. Disengage the 6 claws and remove the lower center instrument panel finish panel.

  40. REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE 
    1. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the No. 1 switch hole base.

  41. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 screws <B>.

    2. Disengage the 3 claws and 2 guides.
    3. Disconnect the connector and remove the lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly.
  42. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  43. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH (See  REMOVAL  )

  44. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Instrument Panel Under Cover) 
    1. Disengage the 3 claws and guide to remove the No. 2 instrument panel under cover.
  45. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  46. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  47. DISCONNECT SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle) 

    for C59: (See REMOVAL )

    for E351: (See REMOVAL )

  49. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  50. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  51. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  52. REMOVE RADIO WIRE SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  53. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and DLC3.

    2. Disengage the 3 claws and the hood lock control cable assembly.
    3. Disengage each clamp.
    4. Remove the 3 screws <E>.

    5. Remove the screw <B>.
    6. Remove the 11 bolts <C>.
    7. Remove the 2 bolts <D>.
    8. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the lower instrument panel sub-assembly.
