Outside Molding: Installation

HINT:

The procedure described below is for the LH side. Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH sides, unless otherwise specified.

  1. INSTALL BACK DOOR OUTSIDE MOLDING RH 
    1. Install 6 new clips.
      NOTE: If you install the clips wrongly, the installation of the back door outside molding will be improper.

    2. Engage the 6 clips and install the back door outside molding.

    3. Tighten the screw.
    4. Remove the protective tape.

  2. INSTALL BACK DOOR OUTSIDE MOLDING LH 
    1. Install 6 new clips.
      NOTE: If you install the clips wrongly, the installation of the back door outside molding will be improper.

    2. Engage the 6 clips and install the back door outside molding.

    3. Tighten the screw.
    4. Remove the protective tape.

  3. INSTALL SPARE TIRE 

    Torque: 88 N*m (897 kgf*cm, 65 ft.*lbf) 

  4. INSTALL ACCESS DOOR OUTSIDE MOLDING SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install 4 new clips.
      NOTE: If you install the clips wrongly, the installation of the access door outside molding will be improper.

    2. Engage the 4 clips and install the access door outside molding.

    3. Tighten the nut.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (50 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

    4. Remove the protective tape.

  5. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE MOLDING SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install 9 new clips.
      NOTE: If you install the clips wrongly, the installation of the rear door outside molding will be improper.

    2. Engage the 9 clips and install the front door outside molding.

    3. Tighten the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (50 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

    4. Remove the protective tape.

  6. INSTALL QUARTER PANEL MOLDING PAD 

    HINT:

    Only follow this procedure when replacing the quarter outside molding pad.

    1. Install a new quarter outside molding pad.

  7. INSTALL QUARTER OUTSIDE MOLDING SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install 2 new clips.
      NOTE: If you install the clips wrongly, the installation of the quarter outside molding will be improper.

    2. Engage the 2 clips and install the quarter outside molding.

    3. Tighten the 8 screws

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (50 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)

    4. Install the clip.
    5. Remove the protective tape.

  8. INSTALL FRONT FENDER OUTSIDE MOLDING PAD 

    HINT:

    Only follow this procedure when replacing the front wheel opening extension pad.

    1. Install a new front wheel opening extension pad.

  9. INSTALL FRONT FENDER MOLDING SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install 2 new clips.
      NOTE: If you install the clips wrongly, the installation of the front fender molding will be improper.

    2. Engage the 2 clips and install the front fender molding.

    3. Tighten the 5 screws.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (50 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

    4. Install the 2 clips

    5. Remove the protective tape.

  10. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT  (See INSTALLATION  )
  11. INSTALL ROCKER PANEL MOLDING 
    1. Install 3 clips.

      NOTE: If you install the clips wrongly, the installation of the rocker panel molding will be improper.
    2. Engage the 5 clips and install the rocker panel molding.

    3. Tighten the 3 screws.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (50 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

    4. Install the 6 retainers.

  12. INSTALL SIDE STEP SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION  )
  13. INSTALL QUARTER PANEL MUDGUARD  (See INSTALLATION  )
  14. INSTALL FRONT FENDER MUDGUARD  (See INSTALLATION  )
  15. INSTALL REAR BUMPER COVER  (See INSTALLATION  )
  16. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER COVER 
    1. Engage the 2 claws and install the front bumper cover.

    2. Tighten the 8 screws and the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 

      3.0 N*m (30 kgf*cm, 27 in.*lbf) for screw 

      8.0 N*m (80 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) for bolt

    3. Install the 5 clips.

    4. Remove the protective tape.

  17. INSTALL RADIATOR GRILLE  (See INSTALLATION  )
  18. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (w/ Back Sonar) 

    Torque: 3.9 N*m (40 kgf*cm, 35 in.*lbf)
