Instrument Panel Safety Pad: Installation

  1. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 3 pins.
    2. Install the 7 bolts < A >, < E >, < F > and the nut < J >.

      Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) (Bolt < A >)

    3. Connect each of the clamps and the connectors, and install the bolt.

  2. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Engage the 2 clips and install the cowl side trim sub-assembly LH.

  3. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures for the RH side and the LH side.

  4. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  5. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures for the RH side and the LH side.

  6. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  7. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures for the RH side and the LH side.

  8. CONNECT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR  (See INSTALLATION )
  9. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL NO. 2 FINISH PANEL LOWER 
    1. Install the 7 screws < G > and the instrument panel No. 2 finish panel lower.

  10. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the 2 clips.

    2. Install the glove compartment door damper clip and the glove compartment door assembly.

  11. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY 
    1. Cover the parts indicated in the illustration with protective tape to prevent them from being damaged.
    2. Engage the 2 clips and install the console box assembly.
      NOTE: Do not damage the instrument panel safety pad when installing the console box assembly.

    3. Remove the attached protective tape from the console box assembly.
    4. Install the 2 bolts < D >.
    5. Install the 2 console caps and the 2 screws < l >.
    6. Install the 3 screws < G >.
  12. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ARMREST ASSEMBLY CENTER 
    1. Install the bolt and front seat armrest assembly center.

      Torque: 37 N*m (377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Engage the 2 claws and install the seat armrest cover LH.
  13. INSTALL FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER LH 
    1. Install the 2 clips and the floor carpet cover center LH.
  14. INSTALL FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures for the RH side and the LH side.

  15. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY CENTER 
    1. Connect the connectors.
    2. Engage the 4 clips and the 2 claws, and install the instrument cluster finish panel assembly center.

  16. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL INSERT SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER LH 
    1. Install the 3 bolts < C > and the instrument panel insert sub-assembly lower LH.

  17. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER 
    1. Connect the hood lock control cable.
    2. Connect the connectors.
    3. Engage the 3 clips.
    4. Install the 2 bolts < B > and the instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly lower.

  18. INSTALL COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connectors.
    2. Install the 3 screws < G > and combination meter assembly.

  19. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH 
    1. Engage the claw.
    2. Install the 4 screws < G > and the instrument cluster finish panel garnish.

  20. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 5 clips and install the instrument cluster finish panel assembly.

  21. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER 
    1. Connect the connectors.
    2. Engage the 5 clips and install the instrument panel finish panel lower.
  22. INSTALL INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL ASSEMBLY (w/ Navigation System)  (See INSTALLATION )

  24. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY CENTER 
    1. Engage the 8 clips and install the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly center.

  25. INSTALL WIPER SWITCH  (See INSTALLATION )
  26. INSTALL HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH  (See INSTALLATION )
  27. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER UPPER  (See INSTALLATION )
  28. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER LOWER  (See INSTALLATION )
  29. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  30. INSTALL STEERING PAD  (See INSTALLATION )
  31. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL NO. 3 COVER LOWER  (See INSTALLATION )
  32. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL NO. 2 COVER LOWER  (See INSTALLATION )
  33. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  34. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    NOTE: Some systems need initialization when disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal (See INITIALIZATION ).
  35. INSPECT STEERING PAD  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  36. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT 

    (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM )
