Inspection Procedure

1. Check if the CAN communication system DTC is output (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).

Result: 

1. B: REPAIR CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (SEE  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
2. A: Go to next step. 

1. Check if the multiplex communication system DTC is output (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

Result: 

1. B: REPAIR MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (SEE  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
2. A: Go to next step. 

1. Connect the hand held tester to the DLC3.
2. Start the engine.
3. Select "ACTIVE TEST" on the hand held tester.

   ACTIVE TEST: ABS/VSC 

   ACTIVE TEST - ABS/VSC

   SLIP INDI LIGHT	Turn SLIP indicator light ON/OFF	Observe combination meter

4. Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the SLIP indicator light are indicated on the combination meter when using the hand held tester.

   OK: 

   The SLIP indicator light turns on or off in accordance with the hand held tester. 

1. NG: Go to step 4 
2. OK: REPLACE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 

HINT:

If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the problem symptoms table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing the part (see PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE ).

1. Check the combination meter assy (see HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING ).

1. NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 
2. OK: END
