Inspection Procedure
- INSPECT CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
- Check if the CAN communication system DTC is output (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR
).
Result:
CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEMDTC is not output A DTC is output B
- B: REPAIR CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (SEE HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )
- A: Go to next step.
- Check if the CAN communication system DTC is output (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR
).
- INSPECT MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
- Check if the multiplex communication system DTC is output (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR
).
Result:
MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEMDTC is not output A DTC is output B
- B: REPAIR MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (SEE HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )
- A: Go to next step.
- Check if the multiplex communication system DTC is output (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR
).
- INSPECT IF SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED
- Check if the skid control ECU connector is connected.
OK:
The connector should be securely connected.
- NG: CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU CORRECTLY
- OK: Go to next step.
- Check if the skid control ECU connector is connected.
- INSPECT BATTERY
- Check the battery voltage.
Standard:
Voltage: 11 to 14 V
- NG: INSPECT CHARGING SYSTEM (SEE ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
- OK: Go to next step.
- Check the battery voltage.
- INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR (IG1 TERMINAL VOLTAGE)
WHEN USING HAND-HELD TESTER
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Start the engine.
- Select "DATA LIST" on the hand-held tester.
DATA LIST: ABS
DATA LIST - ABS (USING HAND-HELD TESTER)Item Measurement Item / Range (Display) Normal Condition IG VOLTAGE ECU power supply voltage / TOO LOW / NORMAL / TOO HIGH TOO HIGH: 14.0 or over IG VOLTAGE ECU power supply voltage / TOO LOW / NORMAL / TOO HIGH NORMAL: 9.5 V to 14.0 V IG VOLTAGE ECU power supply voltage / TOO LOW / NORMAL / TOO HIGH TOO LOW: Below 9.5 V - Read the voltage condition output from the skid control ECU displayed on the hand-held tester.
OK:
"NORMAL" is displayed.
WHEN NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in DATA LIST - ABS (NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER)
.
Standard:
DATA LIST - ABS (NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER)Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A40-18 (IG1) - Body ground Ignition switch on (IG) 10 to 14 V
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (IG1 CIRCUIT)
- OK: Go to next step.
- INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR (GND TERMINAL CONTINUITY)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR (GND TERMINAL CONTINUITY)
.
Standard:
SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR (GND TERMINAL CONTINUITY)Tester Connection Specified Condition A40-4 (GND1) - Body ground Below 1 Ω A40-1 (GND2) - Body ground Below 1 Ω
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (GND CIRCUIT)
- OK: Go to next step.
- INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSY
- Check the combination meter assy (see HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING ).
- NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (SEE OVERHAUL )
- OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (SEE REPLACEMENT )
HINT:
If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the problem symptoms table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing the part (see PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE ).
