Brake Actuator ASSY (W/O VSC): Replacement

  1. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID 
    NOTE: Wash brake fluid off immediately if it adheres to any painted surface.
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (SEE  PRECAUTION  ) 
  3. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH BRACKET 
    1. Release the latch of the brake actuator connector to disconnect the connector.
    2. Using SST, disconnect the 6 brake tubes from the brake actuator.

    3. Use tags or make a memo to identify the reconnection points.

    4. Remove the 3 bolts and brake actuator with bracket.
      NOTE: Do not damage the brake tubes and wire harness.

  4. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and brake actuator from the brake actuator bracket.
  5. INSTALL BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY 
    1. Install the brake actuator to the brake actuator bracket with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf) 

  6. INSTALL BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH BRACKET 
    1. Install the brake actuator with bracket with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 19 N.m (194 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE: Do not damage the brake tubes and wire harness.

    2. Using SST, connect each brake line to the correct position of the brake actuator as shown in the illustration.

      SST 09023-00101

      Torque: 15 N.m (155 kgf.cm, 11 ft.lbf) 

    3. Connect the brake actuator connector.

  7. FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID (SEE  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ) 
  8. BLEED MASTER CYLINDER (SEE  BLEEDING  ) 

    SST 09023-00101

  9. BLEED BRAKE LINE (SEE  BLEEDING  ) 
  10. CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE 
  11. CHECK FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR (SEE  BLEEDING  ) 
  12. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  13. PERFORM INITIALIZATION (SEE  INITIALIZATION  ) 
    1. Some systems need initialization after reconnecting the negative battery cable.
  14. CHECK BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH HAND-HELD TESTER (SEE  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  )
