Section 25 (Engine Cooling System (Except For HEV)): Radiator: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
CAUTION:
  • The engine coolant is pressurized when it is hot. Wait until engine coolant cools down before proceeding the work.
  • If the engine coolant splashes, completely remove and clean it.
  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  2. Remove the V-belt covers.

  3. Collect the refrigerant from A/C system. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>REFRIGERANT RECOVERY PROCEDURE .
    NOTE: This step is necessary only if the radiator and the condenser are removed as an assembly.
  4. Drain engine coolant. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>ENGINE COOLANT>REPLACEMENT>DRAINING OF ENGINE COOLANT .
  5. Remove the front exhaust pipe. Ref. to EXHAUST (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>FRONT EXHAUST PIPE>REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the lower side bolts (A) securing the radiator upper frame.
  7. Disconnect main fan motor connector (B) and sub fan motor connector (C).
  8. Disconnect radiator outlet hose (D).

  9. Remove the reservoir tank. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>RESERVOIR TANK>REMOVAL .
  10. Remove the air intake duct. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>AIR INTAKE DUCT>REMOVAL .
  11. Remove the front bumper. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>FRONT BUMPER>REMOVAL .
  12. Remove the cover UPR - front.

  13. Remove the bracket - bumper UPR.

  14. Remove the front hood lock assembly. Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>FRONT HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY>REMOVAL .
  15. Disconnect the connector from the horn, and remove the clip.

  16. Disconnect the radiator inlet hoses and over flow hose.

  17. Remove the upper side bolts securing the radiator upper frame, and remove the radiator upper frame.

  18. Remove the radiator upper cushion.
  19. When removing the condenser together
    1. Detach the hose - pressure discharge and the pipe - evaporator cooling. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>CONDENSER>REMOVAL .
    2. Remove the radiator, radiator fan & fan motor assembly, and the condenser as an assembly.
    3. Remove the condenser. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>CONDENSER>REMOVAL .
    4. Remove the radiator fan and fan motor assembly. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>RADIATOR FAN AND FAN MOTOR ASSEMBLY>REMOVAL .
    5. Remove the radiator lower cushion.
      NOTE: Remove if necessary.
  20. When condenser is not removed
    1. Remove the pipe - evaporator cooling from the clip.

    2. Disengage the claws, and separate the radiator and the condenser a part.

    3. Remove the radiator and the radiator fan & fan motor assembly as an assembly.
    4. Remove the radiator fan and fan motor assembly. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>RADIATOR FAN AND FAN MOTOR ASSEMBLY>REMOVAL .
    5. Remove the radiator lower cushion.
      NOTE: Remove if necessary.
