Remove/Install Rear Axle Shaft - AR35.30-P-0620SRE

	Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts		AH00.00-N-0001-01A
	Remove
1	Remove left or right rear wheel		AR40.10-P-1100SR
2	Drain transmission oil		AR26.00-P-0200MEX
3	Unscrew bolt (2)
4	Detach rear axle crossmember (4) from body	Do not release the bolted connections on the control arms (5).	AR35.15-P-0250SR
5	Position puller (3) on wheel hub to match hole circle and tighten with threaded rods (3.1)	Commercially available devices/tools  Puller
6	By screwing in the spindle (3.2) release the rear axle shaft (1) from the wheel hub and move out	Do not bend or pull apart the joints of the rear axle shaft (1) too much. Otherwise, the ball joints on the rear axle shaft (1) may be damaged. The axle tube (6) can be moved slightly side wards to create the necessary space for extending the rear axle shaft (1).
7	Remove puller (3)
8	Detach both rear shock absorbers from axle tube (6)		AR32.25-P-0110SR
9	Detach rear axle shaft (1) from transmission using impact extractor (7) and puller tool (8) and pull out	Helper required.
		Position the puller tool (8) to match the contour of the rear axle shaft (1) (arrow A). Extraction tool	Figure

10	Remove radial shaft sealing ring		AR26.40-P-0339SR
	Install
11	Install new radial shaft sealing ring		AR26.40-P-0339SR
12	Slide rear axle shaft (1) up to end stop in the transmission	The rear axle shaft (1) must engage in the transmission.
13	Guide rear axle shaft (1) into wheel hub	Do not bend or pull apart the joints of the rear axle shaft (1) too much. Otherwise, the ball joints on the rear axle shaft (1) may be damaged.
14	Screw in bolt (2) to stop
15	Attach both rear shock absorbers to axle tube (6)		AR32.25-P-0110SR
16	Install rear axle cross member (4)		AR35.15-P-0250SR
17	Fill with transmission oil		AR26.00-P-0200MEX
18	Detach wheel hub cover from left and right rear wheel	Model 453.091/391/491 except code R82 (38.1-cm (15-inch) steel wheels with wheel cap) except code R83 (38.1-cm (15-inch) steel wheels with wheel trim)
19	Mount left or right rear wheel	Model 453.091/391/491 with code R82 (38.1-cm (15-inch) steel wheels with wheel cap) Model 453.091/391/491 with code R83 (38.1-cm (15-inch) steel wheels with wheel trim) Do not yet mount hubcap.	AR40.10-P-1100SR
20	Tighten screw (2)	Bolt, rear axle shaft to wheel bearing	*BA35.30-P-1001-01O

23	Perform a test drive and check transmission for leaktightness
