Remove/install front bumper - AR88.20-P-2000EW

DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

2 Lift vehicle on vehicle lift    
3.1 Remove radiator paneling (13) MODEL 212

3.2 Loosen radiator grille (13) at top of radiator support MODEL 207

IMPORTANT Radiator trim (13) remains on the bumper (1).
4 Pivot left and right air duct insert (4) to side and unscrew bolts (5) MODEL 207

5 Remove left and right quick-release coupling (3) MODEL 207

6 Detach left and right fender liner front section in area of bumper   AR88.10-P-1300ELX 
7 Unscrew bolts (9) on left and right fender (2)    
8 Disconnect electrical connector on frame wiring harness and front bumper (X2638)    
9 Disconnect electrical connector (6) from left daytime running light (E1/3) or left front fog lamp and right daytime running lamp (E2/3) or right front fog lamp and expose electrical wiring harness IMPORTANT Depending on vehicle equipment.  
10.1 Remove bottom section of soundproofing at front MODEL 207 with ENGINE 642, 651

10.2 Remove front engine compartment paneling MODEL 207 with ENGINE 271, 272, 273, 274, 276, 278

11 Unscrew bolt (7) form left and right bracket (8)    
12 Disconnect electrical connector (11) and unclip electrical wiring harness (12) from radiator trim (13) MODEL 207
as of model year 2014
with CODE 501 (360 degree camera)
 
13 Guide bumper (1) out left and right bracket (8)    
14 Remove bumper (1) toward front    
NOTES General information on the impact absorber AH88.20-P-1000-01A
15 Disassemble bumper (1) When replacing bumper (1).

16 Check left and right pedestrian sensor (10) for damage of any kind (cracks, holes, kinks, etc.) MODEL 207

If damages are visible:
Replace pedestrian protection sensor (10).

18 Check adjustment of left front fog lamp and right front fog lamp, adjust MODEL 207
without CODE 615 (Bi-xenon headlamps with active light function)
without CODE 616 (Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated asymmetric curve illumination)
without CODE 621 (Intelligent Light System (left-hand traffic))
without CODE 622 (Intelligent Light System)
