Remove/install power steering radiator - AR46.25-P-3020EW

DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing hydraulic fluid. Depressurize hydraulic system completely before starting any work on it. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. AS00.00-Z-0013-01A
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Open engine hood   AR88.40-P-1000EW
2 Drain air conditioning system   AR83.30-P-1760CW
3.1 Remove engine cover and engine air intake duct MODEL 212 with ENGINE 651 up to model year 2013  
3.2 Remove front engine cover and both engine intake ducts MODEL 207 with ENGINE 272
MODEL 212 with ENGINE 272 up to model year 2013
 
3.3 Remove engine cover and both engine intake air ducts MODEL 212 with ENGINE 642 with TRANSMISSION 711.6
up to model year 2013
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Ignition switched off.
 
3.4 Remove front engine cover MODEL 207 with ENGINE 271, 276, 651
MODEL 212 with ENGINE 276
up to model year 2013
 
4 Remove radiator grille MODEL 212 with ENGINE 272, 276, 651 up to model year 2013
MODEL 212 with ENGINE 642 with TRANSMISSION 711.6
up to model year 2013

5 Remove bracket (6) from radiator cross member    
6 Unclip upper air duct insert (9) and fold up    
7 Detach high-pressure line (10) on condenser    
8 Remove locking eye (2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt for attaching striker *BA62.30-P-1003-02G 
9 Remove DISTRONIC electric controller unit with bracket MODEL 207 with ENGINE 271, 272, 276, 651 with CODE 233 (DISTRONIC PLUS)
MODEL 212 with ENGINE 272, 276, 651 up to model year 2013
with CODE 233 (DISTRONIC PLUS)
MODEL 212 with ENGINE 642 with TRANSMISSION 711.6 up to model year 2013
with CODE 233 (DISTRONIC PLUS)

10 Extract oil from power steering expansion reservoir NOTES Before opening the hydraulic system the area around the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly.
Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system.
 
SPECIAL TOOL Hand pump Figure
11 Detach return lines (3, 4) from radiator (1) IMPORTANT Collect escaping oil with rags and seal connections immediately.  
SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Figure
12 Unclip bracket (1h) from condenser and remove radiator (1)    
13 Install in the reverse order    
14 Fill power steering pump and bleed MODEL 212 with ENGINE 272, 276, 651 up to model year 2013
MODEL 212 with ENGINE 642 with TRANSMISSION 711.6 up to model year 2013

MODEL 207 with ENGINE 271, 272, 276, 651 AR46.30-P-0010CW
INSPECT Check     
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

15 Conduct engine test run and check steering for leaktightness and proper operation
