Remove/install fuel level sensor - AR47.10-P-7000EWA

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel and risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Only pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

  Remove RH fuel tank fuel level indicator fill level sensor (B4/2)     
1 Remove fuel pump (M3) from the right fuel tank chamber NOTES Handle RH fuel tank fuel level indicator fill level sensor (B4/2) carefully in order to avoid deforming the float linkage (1).
Catch dripping fuel with an absorbent rag to avoid damage and soiling on the vehicle.
INSTALLATION NOTES Do not kink, crush or turn fuel lines and do not lay in tight radii. Fuel lines must not have any loops, indentations or damage.
IMPORTANT Do not open left locking ring; carefully pull out fuel pump (M3) with attached fuel lines.

2 Unlock and detach electrical connector (2) for RH fuel tank fuel level indicator fill level sensor (B4/2) on positioning cover (3)    
3 Lead electrical feed lines for RH fuel tank fuel level indicator fill level sensor (B4/2) out of retaining clamps on swirl pot (4) INSTALLATION NOTES Lay electrical feed lines in such a way that deflection of the float cannot be effected.  
4 Unlatch locks (5) using a screwdriver and pull and pull RH fuel tank fuel level indicator fill level sensor (B4/2) out of the swirl pot (4) NOTES Handle RH fuel tank fuel level indicator fill level sensor (B4/2) carefully in order to avoid deforming the float linkage (1).  
5 Install in the reverse order    
  Remove LH fuel tank fuel level indicator fill level sensor (B4/1)     
6 Check fuel level NOTES The fuel tank must be only be filled up to a max. of 25% otherwise fuel can leak out!
IMPORTANT Empty fuel tank if necessary
 
Empty/fill fuel tank AR47.10-P-4001EW 
7 Open fuel filler flap and open filler cap and reseal IMPORTANT in order to reduce pressure in the fuel tank.

9 Remove cover for the left service opening INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Perform leak test before mounting the cover. AR47.10-P-4100-02EW 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA47.10-P-1005-01M 
10 Remove left locking ring IMPORTANT Follow the work instructions for removal exactly. AR47.10-P-4100-02EWA 
SPECIAL TOOL Claw wrench Fig 3
Lubricant paste *BR00.45-Z-1002-06A 
11 Pull transfer unit (6) with attached fuel lines out of the left chamber of the fuel tank NOTES Handle transfer unit (6) and LH fuel tank fuel level indicator fill level sensor (B4/1) carefully to avoid deforming the float linkage (7).
Catch dripping fuel with an absorbent rag to avoid damage and soiling on the vehicle.

12 Unlock and detach electrical connector (8) for LH fuel tank fuel level indicator fill level sensor (B4/1) on positioning cover (9) for transfer unit (6) INSTALLATION NOTES Lay electrical feed lines in such a way that deflection of the float cannot be effected.  
13 Unlatch locks (10) and pull LH fuel tank fuel level indicator fill level sensor (B4/1) out of bracket on the transfer unit (6) NOTES Handle LH fuel tank fuel level indicator fill level sensor (B4/1) carefully in order to avoid deforming the float linkage (7).  
14 Install in the reverse order
