Remove/install automatic transmission - AR27.10-P-0502EH

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Set transmission to position "N" and release parking brake    
2 Open engine hood and move to vertical position   AR88.40-P-1000EW
3 Perform disable for the high-voltage on-board electrical system   AR54.10-P-1150EH
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT When replacing the transmission (1) the electrical connection for the interior and engine wiring harness (X26) must be connected before initial startup of the high voltage on-board electrical system, and then the initial startup of the transmission (1) should be conducted using Star Diagnosis.
4 Disconnect battery ground line   AR54.10-P-0003EW
5 Secure vehicle on vehicle lift   AR00.60-P-0100EWS
6 Remove differential pressure sensor DPF from bracket of air filter housing (5) TRANSMISSION 724.2 in MODEL 212.098/298 with ENGINE 651.9

IMPORTANT Do not detach differential pressure sensor DPF from the pressure lines of catalytic converter diesel particulate filter unit.

12 Remove heat shield (10)    
13 Disconnect transmission oil lines (12) at transmission (1) and release or remove the brackets of transmission oil lines at engine or transmission (1) such that the transmission oil lines (12) can be placed outside the working area   AR27.55-P-0600EH
NOTES Before disconnecting the transmission oil lines (12), the area around the transmission oil lines (12) must be cleaned thoroughly in the area of the connecting points on transmission (1). Otherwise, dirt particles in the hydraulic components could lead to malfunction or total failure of transmission (1).
NOTES Do not kink or bend transmission oil lines (12). Otherwise, the hydraulic system could fail or the transmission (1) may be damaged.
14 Remove bracket of engine compartment paneling (13) TRANSMISSION 724.2 in MODEL 212.095/195 with ENGINE 276.9  
15 Remove ground line (6) from transmission (1) TRANSMISSION 724.2 in MODEL 212.095/195 with ENGINE 276.9  
16 Remove rear engine cross member along with rear engine mount TRANSMISSION 724.2 in MODEL 212.095/195 with ENGINE 276.9 AR22.10-P-1180CW

17 Remove front flexible coupling on transmission flange   AR41.10-P-0050EW
IMPORTANT The front flexible coupling remains on drive shaft.
18 Lower the transmission (1) far enough to be able to disconnect the electrical wiring harnesses (14, 15, 16) from transmission (1) IMPORTANT Electrical wiring harnesses (14, 15) on
TRANSMISSION 724.2 in MODEL 212.095/195 with ENGINE 276.9.

19.1 Remove electrical wiring harnesses (14, 15) from transmission (1) TRANSMISSION 724.2 in MODEL 212.095/195 with ENGINE 276.9  
19.2 Remove electrical wiring harness (16) from transmission (1) TRANSMISSION 724.2 in MODEL 212.098/298 with ENGINE 651.9  
20 Disconnect electrical connection (17)    
21 Remove bracket of high-voltage lines (18)    
22 Remove bolt (20)    
23 Remove screw/bolt (21) and remove protective hoop (22) to the rear TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, safety bar to electric machine housing *BA08.10-P-1002-01E 
24 Remove bolt (23) and high voltage plug (24) from high-voltage connection on housing of the electrical machine and remove downwards NOTES Handle the high-voltage plug (24) carefully; cover if necessary.
The shielding on the high-voltage plug (24) can be damaged otherwise.
IMPORTANT Bolt (23) serves as the removal and pulling-in device and is integrated in the high-voltage plug (24).
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, connector for 3-phase high-voltage line to electric machine housing *BA08.10-P-1001-01E 
25 Remove bolts (25) IMPORTANT Secure starter against falling.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT For TRANSMISSION 724.2 in MODEL 212.098/298 with ENGINE 651.9, the ground line (6) is attached to transmission (1) with a bolt (25).
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt/nut, transmission to engine *BA27.10-P-1001-04G 
26 Remove transmission (1) downwards    
27 Install in the reverse order    
28 Connect Star Diagnosis and perform transmission adaptation After replacing or repairing the transmission (1).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS AD00.00-P-2000-04A
29 Carry out sensor adaptation with STAR DIAGNOSIS After replacing the transmission (1) or the electrical machine rotor position sensor or the electrical machine

30 Check and correct oil level in the transmission   AR27.00-P-0270EH 
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
31 Run an engine test and check transmission (1) for proper operation and leaktightness
