DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A

NOTES The Specifications for Operating Fluids must be strictly observed.
Otherwise the transmission may be damaged.
IMPORTANT On transmissions that have been repaired, the quantity of transmission oil drained +0.5 liters should be poured in.

4 Unscrew thermostat screw plug (4) and remove spring (6) with thermostat element (7) Only when the oil cooler or the oil line have been removed and installed or replaced, or following a transmission repair.
IMPORTANT The thermostat screw plug (4) is spring loaded.

5 Screw in adapter (8) with sealing ring (5) and tighten by hand Only when the oil cooler or the oil line have been removed and installed or replaced, or following a transmission repair.
SPECIAL TOOL Adapter Fig 4
6 Start engine and shift transmission into transmission mode "S" NOTES It is absolutely essential that the transmission is in the "S" transmission mode. This ensures that the start-up clutch remains closed. Otherwise faulty measurements will be made when checking the oil level.
NOTES The transmission must be full with transmission oil.
Otherwise the transmission may be damaged.

7 Connect diagnostic system and check the transmission oil temperature

8 Bring transmission oil temperature to 45°C/113°F IMPORTANT Determine transmission oil temperature using diagnostic system.
9 Turn off engine
10 Determine transmission oil temperature using diagnostic system IMPORTANT The transmission oil temperature must be 45 °C/113.
11 Remove adapter (8) Only when the oil cooler or the oil line have been removed and installed or replaced, or following a transmission repair.

13 Start engine, set selector lever to position "P" and shift transmission to "S" transmission mode NOTES It is absolutely essential that the transmission is in the "S" transmission mode. This ensures that the start-up clutch remains closed. Otherwise faulty measurements will be made when checking the oil level.
  Correct transmission oil level
14 Shift through the gear ranges "P-R-N-D" several times with the brake operated and the engine at idle
15 Leave engine in selector lever position "P" at idle speed, and shift transmission to "S" transmission mode NOTES It is absolutely essential that the transmission is in the "S" transmission mode. This ensures that the start-up clutch remains closed. Otherwise faulty measurements will be made when checking the oil level.
16 Determine transmission oil temperature using diagnostic system IMPORTANT The transmission oil temperature must not exceed 45 °C/113, because the overflow pipe (1) in the oil pan is designed for this transmission oil temperature.
17 Close oil dispenser and unscrew adapter (2) from oil pan
18 Allow oil to drain off at a constant oil flow (arrow a) at the specified transmission oil temperature, until only a few drops exit at the drain orifice (arrow b) NOTES The engine must run at idle speed and the transmission oil temperature must not be above the specified temperature value. Otherwise too much transmission oil will escape.
IMPORTANT If, after removing the adapter (2), a constant flow of oil (arrow a) does not drain off, then transmission oil must be refilled and the transmission oil level corrected.
While doing so, ensure that the transmission oil temperature is 45 °C/113.

19 Replace sealing ring (5) and tighten the drain screw (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Oil drain screw to oil pan *BA27.10-P-1001-03D
