Roof Headlining: Removal

CAUTION: Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing (See PRECAUTION ).
  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait for at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag from working.
  2. REMOVE DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the deck board assembly.

  3. REMOVE NO. 1 REAR SEAT LEG COVER RH  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE NO. 1 REAR SEAT LEG COVER LH  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE NO. 2 REAR SEAT LEG COVER LH  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY RH  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 
    1. Disengage the 8 claws and remove the front door scuff plate.

  9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  10. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.
    2. Disengage the claw and the 2 guides and remove the instrument panel under cover.

  11. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 3 claws and the 2 guides and remove the instrument panel under cover.

  12. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH 
    1. Disengage the 3 guides and remove the cowl side trim board.

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  14. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH 
    1. Remove the front door opening trim weatherstrip.

  16. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 
    1. Disengage the 6 claws and remove the rear door scuff plate.

  17. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  18. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH 
    1. Remove the rear door opening trim weatherstrip.

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  20. REMOVE REAR DECK TRIM COVER 
    1. Disengage the 2 clips, the 4 claws and the 4 guides and remove the rear deck trim cover.

  21. REMOVE LUGGAGE HOLD BELT STRIKER ASSEMBLY 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for both sides.

    1. Remove the bolt and the luggage hold belt striker.

  22. REMOVE REAR SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Remove the belt from the rear seat shoulder belt hanger.
    2. Remove the bolt.
    3. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the floor anchor.

  23. REMOVE REAR SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  24. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Disengage the 4 clips, the 7 claws and the screw and remove the deck trim side panel.

  25. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Disengage the 4 clips, the 7 claws and the screw and remove the deck trim side panel.

    3. Disconnect the luggage compartment light connector.
  26. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Pull the garnish towards yourself, and detach the 4 clips (do not detach clip A).
    2. Detach the 2 claws of the guide, and remove the roof side garnish inner toward the front or the vehicle.

      HINT:

      Clip A remains attached to the body side.

    3. Remove clip A from the vehicle body.
  27. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH ASSEMBLY LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  28. REMOVE SEAT BELT ANCHOR COVER CAP 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for both sides.

    1. Pull portion A, shown in the illustration, toward you, remove the 2 claws on the lower side followed by the claw on the upper side. Then remove the seat belt anchor cover cap.

  29. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Remove the bolt, through anchor and front seat outer belt assembly.

    HINT:

  31. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR LOWER GARNISH RH 
    1. Disengage the 2 clips and the 4 claws and remove the center pillar lower garnish.

  32. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR LOWER GARNISH LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  33. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR UPPER GARNISH RH 
    1. Disengage the 2 clips and the guide and remove the center pillar upper garnish.

  34. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR UPPER GARNISH LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  35. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH 
    NOTE:
    • Install a protective cover onto the curtain shield airbag as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.
    • Replace the front pillar garnish clip with a new one when the front pillar garnish is removed.
    1. Install the protective tape.

    2. Using a moulding remover C, pull the upper part of the garnish toward the inside of the cabin and disengage the 2 clips.

    4. Cut off clip A.
    5. Disengage the guide and the claw and remove the front pillar garnish RH.
    6. Remove clip A from the vehicle body.
    7. Protect the curtain shield airbag assembly.

      Protective cover size

  36. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  37. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure to remove all assist grips.

    1. Using a moulding remover A, disengage the 2 claws and remove the assist grip cover.

    2. Disengage the 2 springs and remove the assist grip.

  38. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Using a moulding remover B, disengage the 4 claws and remove the visor cover.

    2. Remove the visor shaft from the visor holder.
    3. Disengage the 2 springs and remove the visor.

  39. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  40. REMOVE VISOR HOLDER RH 
    1. Turn the visor holder approximately 45° and pull it out as shown in the illustration.

    3. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the visor holder.
  41. REMOVE VISOR HOLDER LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  42. REMOVE ROOM LIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in

    2. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 4 claws and remove the 2 room light covers.

    3. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 4 claws and remove the room light.

    4. Remove the roof wire from the claw on the room light.

    6. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 4 claws and remove the room light switch base.
  43. REMOVE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a moulding remover D, disengage the 4 claws and remove the map light.

    2. Disconnect the map light connector.

    3. Using a clip remover, remove the 3 clamps.
    4. Disconnect the roof wire connector.

    6. Using a clip remover, remove the 5 clamps.
    7. Using a clip remover, remove the clip.

    8. Remove the roof headlining from the back door.

    3. Remove the roof wire from the roof headlining.
