DTC C1783: ACC Distance Switch Fixed On: Diagnosis

  1. STEP 1. Diagnose the CAN bus line. 
    CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).
    1. Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III). Refer to "HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III)  ."
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
    3. Diagnose the CAN bus line. (Refer to EXPLANATION ABOUT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III) CAN BUS DIAGNOSTICS )
    4. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 2
    2. NO:  Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to CAN BUS DIAGNOSTICS TABLE ).
  2. STEP 2. Check the ETACS system data list. 

    Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), check the ETACS system data list (Refer to DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE ).

    • Item No.406: ACC distance switch

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to  Step 6
    2. NO:  Go to Step 3
  3. STEP 3. Check the ACC distance switch. 

    Refer to CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH CHECK  .

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 4
    2. NO:  Replace the cruise control switch (Refer to RADAR CALIBRATION  ).
  4. STEP 4. Check the wiring harness between ETACS-ECU connector terminal and clock spring connector terminal ACC distance switch line, between clock spring connector terminal and ACC distance switch connector terminal. 

    Check the connector and power supply line for short circuit.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 5
    2. NO:  Repair the defective connector or the wiring harness.
  5. STEP 5. Check the clock spring. 

    Refer to DRIVER'S AIR BAG MODULE AND CLOCK SPRING INSPECTION .

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Replace the ETACS-ECU (Refer to ETACS-ECU ).
    2. NO:  Replace the clock spring, and install the driver's air bag module [Refer to DRIVER'S AIR BAG MODULE AND CLOCK SPRING ].
  6. STEP 6. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) data list. 

    Check the following data list (Refer to DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE  ).

    • Item No.51: ACC distance switch state

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Intermittent malfunction. (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
    2. NO:  Replace the ACC/FCM-ECU (Refer to ACC/FCM-ECU  ).
