Radar Calibration

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

If the ACC/FCM-ECU is replaced or removed and installed, use the following procedure to perform the radar calibration.

CAUTION:
  • Before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
  • Prior to this service operation, check the ACC/FCM-ECU radar for dirt or foreign material. Check the wheel alignment, the tire inflation pressure and load condition, which may cause the vehicle to be tilted. Then correct them if necessary.
  1. Before setting scan tool (M.U.T.-III), turn the ignition key to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
  3. Select "ACC/FCM"
  4. Select "Special function"
    CAUTION: When the ACC/FCM-ECU is removed and installed, go to Step 5. When the ACC/FCM-ECU is replaced, go to Step  8.
  5. Select "Reset"
  6. Select "Reset alignment values". Then check that "FCM OFF" flashes at 1Hz on the information screen of the multi-information display.
  7. Return to "Special function"
  8. Select "Learning"
  9. Select "Start service radar alignment". Then check that "FCM OFF" flashes at 2 Hz on the information screen of the multi-information display.
  10. Start the engine.
  11. Drive the vehicle at constant speed of 30 km/h (19 mph) or more for at least five minutes on a straight road. However, this calibration process should complete within 20 minutes.
    NOTE:
    • Prepare a vehicle travelling in front, and weather should be good so as to check the road condition.
    • Drive the vehicle on a straight road [which radius exceeds 250 m (820 ft)].
  12. Then check that "FCM OFF" goes out on the information screen of the multi-information display.
    NOTE: If "FCM OFF" flashes at 1 Hz instead of 2 Hz on the information screen of the multi-information display, check the adaptive cruise control (ACC) system (Refer to CHECK OF THE FREEZE FRAME DATA  ). Then repeat the procedure from step  6.
  13. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
  14. Remove scan tool (M.U.T.-III).
