51 36 070 Removing and installing rear left or right side window

- GENERAL PROCEDURE for dismantling/installation of affixed window glass
Removal is carried out with WIRE PULL HANDLES .
The following new parts CONSUMABLES are required.

Preliminary work needed:
- Remove THE COVER FROM THE REAR DOOR PILLAR
- Remove TRIM PANEL FOR ROOF PILLAR at rear (C-pillar)
- Remove TRIM PANEL FOR ROOF PILLAR at rear (D-pillar)
Removal:
Remove screw (1).
Release holder (2) at clip (3) and remove.
Cutting through the adhesive bead:
Feed wire (1) behind cover (2) and supporting strip (3) and place fully around side window.
Attach wire pull handles (4) to wire (1).
Secure the side window on the body with adhesive tape.
To facilitate cutting through the adhesive bead, heat the wire (1) by means of sawing motion.
Protect side trim panel and headlining from inside with plastic protection.
Cut through adhesive bead from front to rear.
Pull wire pull handles (2) out so that wire (1) will not be pulled across body.
Installation:
Remove remnants of guide pin (1) and Dual Lock tapes (2) and clean bonding surface.
Apply new Dual Lock tape (2) between the marks on the body area.
Coordinate position of Dual Lock tapes (2) with Dual Lock tapes on side window; if necessary, correct position.
Clip holder (1) into body with clip (2).
Tighten screw (3).
Attach THE COVER ON THE REAR DOOR PILLAR .

Supporting strip (1) must be fitted on side window.

Apply bead joint in area (2).
Place side window (1) at side panel.
Align side window (1) with roof (2) according to dimension (A) and with cover (3) according to dimension (B).
A = 1.5 ± 1 mm
B = 2 ± 1 mm
Side window (1) must be parallel to roof (2) and cover (3).
Engage the side window (1) into the dual-lock tapes.
Fix side window (1) in position with yellow plastic adhesive tape.
