51 47 314 Removing and installing/replacing carpet for passenger compartment

Preliminary work needed: 

• Remove both FRONT SEATS 
• Remove BASS SPEAKER
• Remove AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT
• Remove FUNCTION CARRIER DASHBOARD 
• Remove REAR SEAT
• Remove ACCELERATOR PEDAL MODULE
• Remove FOOTWELL SIDE TRIM PANEL  on left and right
• Remove DOOR PILLAR TRIM PANEL  on left and right

Removal: 

Release nuts (1) and remove holder (2).

Cut into carpet in area of dotted line (1).

Ensure that cables are not damaged when doing this.

Cut into carpet in area of dotted line (1) on left and right.

Ensure that cables are not damaged when doing this.

Feed out carpet from vehicle and place to one side.

INSTALLATION: 

Replacement only: 

Lay removed carpet over new carpet and transfer cutting pattern (1).

Cut out new carpet along dotted line (1).

Feed in carpet into vehicle.

Install holder (1) and tighten nuts (2).

Tightening torque 51 16 5AZ .

Install holder (3) and tighten nut (4).

Tightening torque 51 16 3AZ .

Required reworking: 

• Install ACCELERATOR PEDAL MODULE
• Install DOOR PILLAR TRIM PANEL  on left and right
• Mount BASS SPEAKER
• Mount FUNCTION CARRIER DASHBOARD 
• Install AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT
• Mount FOOTWELL SIDE TRIM PANEL  on left and right
• Mount both FRONT SEATS 
• Mount REAR SEAT
