51 45 075 Removing and installing/replacing support for instrument panel (Version 1)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Depending on version: 

Removal: 

Undo screws (1) on bulkhead.

Release clamping bolt (1).

Release steering shaft (2) from steering column.

Release nuts (1 and 2).

Remove retaining bracket (3).

Remove cover (1) and release nut underneath.

Unscrew nuts (2).

Unscrew nuts (1).

Loosen all cable clips from the support.

Release screws (1).

Raise heating and air-conditioning unit (2) slightly and guide out support (3) towards rear.

If necessary, release further cable clips and remove support (3).

Installation: 

Insert support (3).

Position heating and air-conditioning unit (2) in area of screw connection (1) correctly on support (3).

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 51 45 6AZ .

Ensure correct cable routing.

Clip cable clip into support.

Tighten down nuts (1).

Tightening torque 51 45 6AZ .

Insert retaining bracket (3).

Tighten down nuts (2).

Tightening torque 51 45 3AZ .

Tighten down nuts (1).

Tightening torque 51 45 4AZ .

Tighten nut (1) and attach associated cover.

Tightening torque 51 45 5AZ .

Tighten down nuts (2).

Tightening torque 51 45 4AZ .

Tighten screw (1) on bulkhead.

Tightening torque 51 45 2AZ .

NOTE:
  • When steering shaft is to be reused, clean both threads in steering shaft to remove all remnants of screw locking agent.
  • Clamping bolt must rest in groove of steering column.

Slide steering shaft onto steering column.

Tighten screw (1).

Part:  Replace screw (1).

Tightening torque 32 31 3AZ .
