41 34 041 Stripping operations - Replacing tail panel

NOTE: Owing to the different engine variants and equipment specifications, not all the components are taken into consideration.
The following list basically represents the removal sequence.

Remove battery (61 21 010 REMOVE AND INSTALL OR REPLACE BATTERY )
Remove bumper trim (51 12 156 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (REPLACING) REAR BUMPER PANEL )
Remove bumper carrier (51 12 050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SUPPORT FOR REAR BUMPER PANEL )
Remove guide for rear bumper in the center (51 12 825 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING GUIDE FOR REAR CENTRE BUMPER PANEL )
Remove guide for rear left and right bumper (51 12 828 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING GUIDE FOR THE BUMPER PANEL, REAR LEFT OR RIGHT )
Remove luggage compartment floor trim panel (51 47 101 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR TRIM PANEL )
Upper tail panel trim (51 46 050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TOP COVER ON TAIL PANEL )
Remove left luggage compartment wheel arch panel (51 47 151 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WHEEL ARCH TRIM )
Remove right luggage compartment wheel arch panel (51 47 161 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING RIGHT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WHEEL ARCH PANEL )
Remove striker for rear lid (51 24 130 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING STRIKER FOR TAILGATE LOCK )
Remove both rear lights (63 21 180 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT REAR LIGHT (IN SIDE WALL) )
Partially detach tailgate seal
Undo both rear silencers on the body
Partially undo the heat shield

Luggage compartment floor, left:

Release nut (1) and remove earth support point.

Tightening torque 41 34 2AZ .

Undo the control unit holder (2).

Undo wiring harness (3) and put to one side together with the holder (2).

Luggage compartment floor, right:

Undo nuts (1) and remove ground support points.

Tightening torque 41 34 2AZ .

Undo grommet (2) and remove wiring harness towards the inside.

Installation note:

Please ensure correct installation of the grommet! (water tightness).

Undo screw (1) and remove battery crash pad (2).

Undo engaged latches (3) and remove the holder with the control unit (4) towards the top and put to one side.

Undo nut (1) and remove the negative battery cable (2).

Tightening torque 61 21 6AZ .

Release wiring harness (3).

Undo the control unit (4) from the tail panel and put to one side together with the wiring harness.
