Remove/Install Front Fixed Element Of Panoramic Sliding Sunroof - AR77.21-P-0803S

MODIFICATION NOTES

11.11.2021 Replace front stationary Element (1). Operation step 10.  
11.11.2021 When applying adhesive material, ensure that the adhesive retainers have sufficient contact with adhesive material in area (5). Otherwise, the function of the adhesive retainers (5) will not be ensured. Operation step 11.

Notice  Notes on removal/installation of bonded elements of panoramic roof   AH77.21-P-0001-01A 
REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove drip rails.   AR88.80-P-4000S
    Model 223.0/1
with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof)
 
2 Fully open panoramic sliding sunroof.    
3 Open side window in driver door. IMPORTANT So that the freshly glued in stationary front element (1) of the panoramic sliding sunroof is not pressed outwards due to the air pressure when the doors are closed.  
4 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).    
5 Remove sealing (2). IMPORTANT The seal (2) is put on the stationary front element (1) from underneath.  
6 Fix in place seal (3) on the windshield. Adhesive fabric tape *BR00.45-Z-1062-02A 
7 Mask off adjacent paint surfaces with tape. Adhesive fabric tape *BR00.45-Z-1062-02A 
WARNING Risk of injury  due to snapping or warming up of cutting wire and due to splinters when cutting out glued panoramic roofs Wear cut-proof gloves and safety glasses. AS77.21-Z-0002-01A 
8 Cut out adhesive bead (4) of front fixed element (1) and remove.   AR77.21-P-0803-01S 
    IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.  
    IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Oscillating saw with a round saw blade
 
    SPECIAL TOOL Set of shields Fig 2
9 Prepare body flange for stationary front element (1) for installation.   AR77.21-P-0803-03S 
    NOTES
Only use manufacturer approved adhesive kit from the replacement part system. 
Otherwise, adhesion problems will occur. 
 
    IMPORTANT Use only primer fillers and primer sticks approved by Daimler AG: https://xentryi.daimler.com  
INSTALLING Install     
10 Prepare front stationary element (1) for installation.   AR77.21-P-0803-02S 
    NOTES
Only use manufacturer approved adhesive kit from the replacement part system. Otherwise, adhesion problems will occur. 
 
    IMPORTANT Replace front stationary Element (1).  
    IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.  
    HAND HELD TESTER Distance between top edge of window and front edge of roof *BE67.10-P-1001-01E 
    Adhesive fabric tape *BR00.45-Z-1062-02A 
    SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 1
11 Apply adhesive material for stationary front element (1).   AR77.21-P-0803-04S 
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 02 72 00 Sealing and corrosion protection gun   WS97.00-P-0003B
    NOTES
When applying adhesive material, ensure that the adhesive retainers have sufficient contact with adhesive material in area (5).
Otherwise, the function of the adhesive retainers (5) will not be ensured.
 
    NOTES
Only use manufacturer approved adhesive kit from the replacement part system. 
Otherwise, adhesion problems will occur. 
 
    NOTES
Apply adhesive material as quickly as possible, and position and fix in place front fixed element (1) on body flange.
Strength of adhesively bonded connection will otherwise be impaired and the required adhesion of adhesive material is not ensured.
 
    SPECIAL TOOL Adapter Fig 3
12 Install front stationary element (1).   AR77.21-P-0803-05S 
    NOTES
Only use manufacturer approved adhesive kit from the replacement part system. 
Otherwise, adhesion problems will occur. 
 
    NOTES
Do not move the vehicle for at least 10 h after gluing in the front fixed element (1). The strength of the adhesively bonded connection is otherwise impaired and the required adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.
 
13 Put seal (2) on the stationary front element (1) from underneath.    
14 Remove fixing from seal (3).    
15 Remove masking tape residues.    
16 Install drip rails.   AR88.80-P-4000S

  Concluding tasks     
17 Normalize panoramic sliding sunroof with diagnostic system and perform teach-in run for automatic reversing function.
