	Remove/install
1	Remove heat shield.	: Do not install upper Engine cover until after the leak test.	AR09.40-P-6044MNI
2.1	Remove clamp (11) of right catalytic converter (10).	Engine 177.9 in model 290 : Pay attention to alignment of clamp (11). Leaks can occur otherwise. : If a one-piece clamp (11) is installed, install a two-piece clamp (11). In case of a two-piece clamp (11), replace screws/bolts and nuts.	AR09.40-P-6018-01MNE

3	Remove right catalytic converter (10) from bracket (3).	Bolt, butterfly bracket to catalytic converter	*BA49.10-P-1003-02E
4	Remove lower Engine compartment lining.	: Only install lower Engine compartment lining after leak test.	AR61.20-P-1105FRX
5	Remove holder (8).	Bolt, bracket for catalytic converter to catalytic converter/bracket	*BA49.10-P-1011-02E
6	Remove clamp (7).	: Exhaust system must be aligned so that it is free of tension before tightening bolted connections. Otherwise, leaks in exhaust system will occur. : Replace clamp (7). Clamp, front exhaust system to center exhaust system	*BA49.10-P-1005-02E
7	Remove bracket (9) with bracket (3).	Bolt, exhaust system bracket to front of crankcase	*BA49.10-P-1006-02E
8	Secure right catalytic converter (10) against falling down.

10	Remove right lambda sensor upstream of catalytic converter.		AR07.04-P-0083MNI
11	Remove right lambda sensor downstream of catalytic converter.		AR07.04-P-0084MNI
12	Remove union nuts (17) from right gasoline particulate filter (16)	Engine 177 in model 290 with code 598 (Gasoline particulate filter (OPF) with sensor system) : Coat thread with heat-resistant lubricating paste. Paste, hot lubrication 1 kg, DBL 6879.20	*BR00.45-Z-1005-06A

15	Release right catalytic converter (10) and remove downward.
16	Remove combustion and corrosion residues on flange connections.
17	Check differential pressure lines (18) with hoses for damage.	Engine 177.8 in model 290 with code 961 (Exhaust system with OPF, generation 2.0) Engine 177.9 in model 290 with code 598 (Gasoline particulate filter (OPF) with sensor system) If damage is present: ↓ Remove differential pressure lines (18) with hoses at right gasoline particulate filter differential pressure sensor (B163/6) and replace. 18	Install in the reverse order.
19	Check installation position and clearance of right catalytic converter (10).	If problems occur: ↓ Realign right catalytic converter (10).
	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when Engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the Engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
20	Perform Engine test run to check exhaust system for leaks.
