Perform Wheel Alignment Check - AR40.20-P-0200MFA

MEASURING Measure     
1 Drive the vehicle onto measuring station and secure using parking brake. IMPORTANT The measuring system must be approved by Mercedes-Benz.  
2 Put transmission into neutral position.    
3 Open window on driver's door. IMPORTANT Preparations for checking steering lock.  
4 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).    
5 Carry out conditions and tests for wheel alignment measurement.   AR40.20-P-0304-01MFA 
6 Unlock turn and slip plates.    
7 Rock vehicle to settle suspension at front and rear several times. IMPORTANT In order to bring the vehicle into ready-to-drive condition.  
8 Check vehicle level at front and rear axles using electronic inclinometer and adjust if necessary.

    Cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1025-04A 
9 Cover up the brake pedal and the front seat. IMPORTANT Otherwise the brake pedal or the front sea may be damaged.  
10 Install the brake pedal jack with the adapter for brake pedal jack between the brake pedal and the driver's seat. IMPORTANT Do not load vehicle any more.

11 Attach Mercedes-Benz quick-clamp holders.   AR40.20-P-0230SX 
12 Attach measuring heads. IMPORTANT For attaching the measuring heads, see corresponding manufacturer's operating instructions.  
13 Carry out input measurement. IMPORTANT For carrying out the initial measurement, see corresponding dimensional check system operating instructions.  
14 Compare determined values with the specified values. Model 243 AR40.20-P-0203QA
    Model 247 AR40.20-P-0203MB 
    Model 177 AR40.20-P-0203MFA
    Model 118 AR40.20-P-0203MFI
15 Check camber on rear axle. If the measurement result of the initial measurement is outside the tolerance.

16.1 Check toe at rear axle. Model 177, 247
with code U54 (Compound-link axle) If the measurement result of the initial measurement is outside the tolerance.
 
      AR40.20-P-0304-07MFA 
16.2 Adjust toe on rear axle. Model 118, 177, 243, 247
with code U55 (Multi-link axle)
If the measurement result of the initial
measurement is outside the tolerance.

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, tie rod to rear axle carrier *BA35.20-P-1001-04N 
17 Check camber at front axle. If the measurement result of the initial measurement is outside the tolerance.

18 Check caster at front axle. If the measurement result of the initial measurement is outside the tolerance.  
      AR40.20-P-0304-10MFA 
19 Adjust toe on front axle. If the measurement result of the initial measurement is outside the tolerance.

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Jam nut, tie rod *BA46.40-P-1002-01Q 
    SPECIAL TOOL Retainer device Fig 3
20 Check toe-out angle. If the measurement result of the initial measurement is outside the tolerance.

21 Carry out output measurement. If the specified values for the vehicle are not attained,

Repeat operation steps 15 to 21.
 
22 Detach measuring heads.    
23 Detach Mercedes-Benz quick-clamp holders.   AR40.20-P-0230SX 
24 Remove brake pedal jack with adapter for brake pedal jack. SPECIAL TOOL Brake pedal jack Fig 1
    SPECIAL TOOL Adapter for brake pedal winch Fig 2
25 Remove cover from brake pedal and driver's seat.    
26 Lock turn and slip plates.    
27 Drive vehicle off measuring system.    
28 Check headlamp adjustment and correct if necessary.
