DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove corresponding wheel and tire assembly.   AR40.10-P-1102MFA
2 Remove bottom engine compartment paneling. Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 260 with code M016 (Uprated engine)

3 Remove rear section of front fender liner. Model 118, 177, 247 AR88.10-P-1301MFA

4 Remove nut (3) and unhook torsion bar linkage. NOTES
Counterhold the ball head and do not use an impact wrench/driver.
Otherwise the ball head gets damaged.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, torsion bar linkage to suspension strut/stabilizer bar *BA32.35-P-1002-02A 
5 Unclip retaining clip (6) from left front level sensor (B22/8) or right front level sensor (B22/9). Model 118, 177, 247
with code 459 (Steel suspension with adjustable damping)
with code 640 (SAE dynamic LED headlamps right-hand traffic)

6 Remove nut (4) from supporting joint.
Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths
  AH00.00-P-0015-01CW
    NOTES
Counterhold the ball head and do not use an impact wrench/driver.
Otherwise, the ball head or sealing bellows (5) will be damaged.
IMPORTANT Model 118, 177, 247.0

A combination wrench
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, supporting ball joint/transverse control arm to steering knuckle *BA33.15-P-1005-01F 
    SPECIAL TOOL Model 243

7 Remove bolts (7, 8). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, transverse control arm bearing to front axle carrier *BA33.15-P-1002-01F 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, transverse control arm bearing to longitudinal member *BA33.15-P-1003-01F 
8 Remove anti-twist lock (9) at nut of screw (2).    
9 Remove bolt (2). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, transverse control arm to front axle carrier *BA33.15-P-1001-01F 
10 Remove transverse control arm (1) from front axle carrier.    
INSPECT Check     
11 Check seal bellows (5) on supporting joint. If damage is present,

Replace transverse control arm (1).
 
CLEAN Clean     
12 Clean centering cone on supporting joint of transverse control arm (1). IMPORTANT There must be no oil or grease on the centering cone and on the thread.  
13 Install in the reverse order.    
MEASURING Measure     
14 Perform chassis alignment.   AR40.20-P-0200MFA
