REMOVING Remove     
1 Move front passenger seat toward rear    
2 Remove Audio 20 radio or Audio 20 radio incl. CD changer IMPORTANT The removed audio component is no longer required. AR82.60-P-7502W 
3 Remove 5-inch Audio/COMAND® display (A40/8) IMPORTANT The 5-inch Audio/COMAND® display (A40/8) is no longer required. AR82.60-P-7722W 
4 Remove navigation box In vehicles with code (508) Navigation box preinstallation or with code (509) Navigation box
IMPORTANT Route antenna line of global positioning system connected to the navigation box into slot of COMAND® controller unit (A40/3).
 
5 Remove glove box and set down in front passenger footwell with electric wiring harness connected    
INSTALLING Install     
6 Retrofit antenna for global positioning system (GPS) In vehicles without code (508) Navigation box preinstallation and without code (509) Navigation box AN82.61-P-7474-04WA 
    SPECIAL TOOL Mounting wedge Fig 1
7 Retrofit COMAND® fan motor (M4/13)   AN82.85-P-0005-01W 
8 Retrofit electrical wiring harness (3) of COMAND® fan motor (M4/13)   AN82.85-P-0005-02W 
9 Install glove box    
10 Install 7-inch Audio/COMAND® display (A40/8)   AR82.60-P-7722W 
11 Install COMAND® controller unit (A40/3) IMPORTANT In vehicles with code (508) Navigation box preinstallation or with code (509) Navigation box, the antenna line of the global positioning system, which was connected to the navigation box, must be connected to the COMAND® controller unit (A40/3). AR82.60-P-7502W 
12 Enter special equipment in online vehicle data card via vehicle documentation system (VeDoc) IMPORTANTAdd: 
  • Code (527) COMAND® with APS navigation system

Delete: 
  • Code (508) Navigation box preinstallation
  • Code (509) Navigation box
  • Code (510) Audio 20 with CD changer
  • code (523) MB Audio 20 radio.
 
13 Document retrofitted equipment through VeDoc IMPORTANT Attach "COMAND® APS retrofitted, as per AN82.85-P-0003W" note under the field organization texts to design group 82  
14 Connect Star Diagnosis and select vehicle via the vehicle identification number (VIN)    
15 Run variant coding with XENTRY using software calibration number (SCN)    
16 Disconnect Star Diagnosis    
17 Perform function test IMPORTANT See COMAND® controller unit (A40/3) operating instructions.
