REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Connect diagnostic system and perform initial startup of radio (A2) or COMAND® controller unit (A40/3) When replacing the radio (A2) or the COMAND® controller unit (A40/3).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
2 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key or KEYLESS-GO start/stop button from electronic ignition lock control unit IMPORTANT KEYLESS-GO start/stop button only on vehicle with code 889 (KEYLESS-GO).  
3 Remove center console cover (1)   AR68.20-P-2000W
4 Unscrew bolts (arrows).    
5 Disconnect electrical connector (2) and remove radio (A2) or COMAND® controller unit (A40/3) from instrument panel until electrical connectors and optical fiber connector on the back of the device are accessible    
6 Disconnect electrical connectors and optical fiber connector on back of radio (A2) or COMAND® controller unit (A40/3) and remove radio (A2) or COMAND® controller unit (A40/3)    
NOTES Notes on avoiding damage to optical fibers during repair work   AH82.60-P-0001-05AK
7 Remove upper control panel control unit. When replacing the radio (A2) or the COMAND® controller unit (A40/3). AR54.21-P-1262W
8 Install in the reverse order
