MEASURING Measure     
1 Drive vehicle onto measuring station.    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 13 21 00 Wheel alignment system   WS40.00-P-0013B
    IMPORTANT The measuring system must be approved by Mercedes-Benz.  
2 Select drive program "Sport". Model 217.377/378/379/387/388/477/478/479/487/488  
    Model 222.077/177/178/179/187/188  
3 Switch off easy entry and exit feature. IMPORTANT Switching off takes place via buttons on steering wheel in the "Comfort" menu of the multifunction display, see operator's manual o' the vehicle.  
4 Open window on driver's door. | IMPORTANT Preparations for checking steering lock.  
5 Carry out conditions and tests for wheel alignment measurement.   AR40.20-P-0260SX 
6 Unlock turn and slip plates.    
7 Press switch on center console, and raise vehicle level and lower it again. IMPORTANT Raising and lowering the vehicle reduces play in the suspension.  
8 Insert brake pedal jack with adapter for brake pedal jack between brake pedal and driver's seat, and close driver's door. IMPORTANT Protect brake pedal and driver's seat against any damage. Do not load vehicle any more.

9 Check vehicle level at front and rear axle with electronic inclinometer, and adjust if necessary.   AR40.20-P-0301LF 
10 Attach Mercedes-Benz quick-clamp holders.   AR40.20-P-0230SX 
11 Attach measuring heads. IMPORTANT See corresponding manufacturer's operator's manual.  
12 Carry out input measurement. IMPORTANT Refer to corresponding measuring system operator's manual.  
13 Check camber on rear axle. IMPORTANT The camber on the rear axle is not adjustable. AR40.20-P-0331LF 
14 Adjust toe on rear axle. According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0261LF 
15 Adjust camber and caster on front axle. Model 217 (except 217.377/378/379/388/477/478/479/487/488)
Model 222 (except 222.077/177/178/179/187/188)
According to results of initial measurement.		 AR40.20-P-0263LF 
16 Adjust toe on front axle. According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0264LF 
17 Check toe-out angle. According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0325LF 
18 Carry out output measurement. If the specified values are not reached,
↓
Repeat operation steps 14 to 16.		  
19 Remove measuring heads from vehicle.    
20 Remove the Mercedes-Benz quick-clamp holders from the vehicle.   AR40.20-P-0230SX 
21 Remove brake pedal jack with adapter for brake pedal jack. SPECIAL TOOL Adapter for brake pedal winch Fig 2

22 Lock turn and slip plates.    
23 Drive vehicle off measuring system.    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 13 21 00 Wheel alignment system   WS40.00-P-0013B
24 Switch on easy entry and exit feature. IMPORTANT It is switched on via the buttons on the steering wheel in the "Comfort" menu of the multifunction display; see the vehicle's operator's manual.  
INSPECT Check     
25 Check headlamp adjustment.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   Model 217 AP82.10-P-8260S
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   Model 222 AP82.10-P-8260HA
