  Adjust     
1 Deactivate easy entry and exit feature for steering wheel through COMAND Online in Vehicle settings menu NOTES Depending on the version, the steering wheel and possibly also the driver's seat move to a different position when, for example, the driver door is opened or closed.
Otherwise the driver's seat and the steering wheel could be damaged when the brake pedal jack and holding device (055) are installed.
IMPORTANT Details of the procedure can be found in the vehicle owner's manual.		  
2 Move front wheels to straight ahead position    
3 Insert holding device (055) in front of sun visor and fix steering wheel in center position NOTES Protect the emblem in the steering wheel against damage.
Otherwise the holding device (055) may make an indent on the emblem.
SPECIAL TOOL Retainer device		 Fig 1
INSPECT Check     
4 Check center positions (arrows) of steering gear and steering wheel If the steering gear is not in the center position (arrows).
↓
Move steering wheel by one tooth only.		 AR46.20-P-0600-01RK

5 Slacken counternuts (2) on tie rod ends (1) It is essential to counterhold the tie rod ends (1).
Otherwise the tie rod ends (1) could be damaged.		  
6 Adjust toe by rotating tie rods (4) Model 222 Total front axle toe at vehicle level *BE40.20-P-1001-07X 
    Model 217 Total front axle toe at vehicle level *BE40.20-P-1001-07EA 
7 Tighten lock nuts (2). NOTES It is essential to counterhold the tie rod ends (1).
Otherwise the tie rod ends (1) could be damaged.		  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Jam nut, tie rod to inner tie rod *BA46.40-P-1002-01M 
8 Remove holding device (055) SPECIAL TOOL Retainer device Fig 1
9 Check boots for angular movement and straighten if necessary    
10 Activate easy entry/exit feature for the steering wheel
