DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

1 Secure vehicle on vehicle lift   AR00.60-P-0100CW
2 Remove underfloor paneling (1)   AR61.30-P-1001NKB
3 Remove rear muffler (2) Model 117, 156, 176, 242, 246 with engine 270 AR49.10-P-4952MT

DANGER Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

4 Remove heat shield (17) Model 242 with engine 270  
5 Remove cover (3) Model 242 with engine 270  
6 Dismantle brake caliper, place to one side and fix in place   AR42.10-P-0080NKB
7 Unscrew nut (4) on right trailing arm (5) and place bracket with sensor linkage to one side Model 117, 156, 176, 242, 246

8 Detach left and right rear axle rpm sensors (L6/3, L6/4) and place to one side TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, rpm sensor to rear axle shaft flange *BA42.30-P-1001-02F 
9 Remove rear springs   AR32.20-P-0230NKB
10 Detach shock absorbers from spring control arms   AR32.25-P-0110NKB
11 Detach drive shaft from rear axle differential Model 117, 156, 176, 246

12 Detach electrical connection from all-wheel drive solenoid valve and unclip electrical lines Model 117, 156, 176, 246

13 Prop up and secure or lash rear axle (6) using lifting platform and major assembly holding device    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 11 62 00 Major assembly mount   WS01.00-P-0092B
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 03 62 00 Lifting platform   WS01.00-P-0091A
14 Remove bolt for trailing arms (5) to frame floor assembly   AR35.20-P-0100NKB 
15 Remove bolt (7) of rear axle (6) to frame floor assembly INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Thread in the frame floor assembly must be recut and blown out.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, rear axle carrier to frame floor assembly *BA35.10-P-1001-01Q 
16 Remove screws/bolts (8) of rear axle (6) to frame floor assembly INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Thread in the frame floor assembly must be recut and blown out.
IMPORTANT Note installation position of bracket (9) to underfloor paneling (1).
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, rear axle carrier to frame floor assembly *BA35.10-P-1001-01Q 
17 Lower and remove rear axle (6) IMPORTANT Make sure that the shock absorbers do not get stuck in the spring control arms when lowering the rear axle (6) n.  
18 Install in the reverse order    
19 Perform wheel alignment check   AR40.20-P-0200NKB
