Remove/Install Engine Oil Pan - AR01.45-P-7500MRJ

WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the overpressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. Do not fill Engine oil into beverage containers.

1 Deactivate easy entry and exit feature. Engine 264 in model 205, 253
with code 275 (Memory Package (driver's seat, steering column and mirror))

2 Secure vehicle on vehicle lift.   AR00.60-P-1006A
3 Reduce pressure of air suspension. Engine 264 in model 205
with code 489 (AIRMATIC Dual Control/semi-active air suspension)
with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)

4 Drain off coolant. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only install lower Engine compartment lining after leak test. AR20.00-P-1142MRI
5 Discharge air conditioning system.   AR83.30-P-1760LW
6 Remove drain screw (1) from oil pan bottom section (10) and catch Engine oil in a suitable container.    
Notice  Notes on Engine oil and filter changes INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace sealing ring. AH18.00-P-0104-01A
    FLUID SPECIFICATION Engine oil *BF18.00-P-1001-01GA 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Drain screw to oil pan *BA01.45-P-1002-01ZA 
    SPECIAL TOOL Assembly tool Fig 2
7 Remove the exhaust system clamp from the catalytic converter. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace exhaust system clamp on catalytic converter. AR49.10-P-7142MRI
8 Remove wiper arms. Engine 264 in model 205
with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)

9 Install Engine support fixture and slightly lift engine. NOTES
Do not subject the Engine mounts to tension. The Engine mount can get damaged otherwise.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Do not install upper Engine cover until after the leak test.

10 Remove Engine carriers from front Engine mounts.   AR22.10-P-4330LWB

12 Remove oil cooler coolant lines (4) at oil pan (2). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, coolant line to crankcase/cylinder head/oil pan *BA20.20-P-1001-02B 
13 Release, disconnect electrical connector at Engine oil fill level sensor (B40/6) and unclip electric line at oil pan (2).   AR18.40-P-5116MRI
14 Remove screws (5) for transmission from oil pan (2). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, transmission to engine *BA27.10-P-1001-04H 
15 Remove electric coolant pump (M75/11).   AR20.10-P-1271MRI
16 Remove bracket (6). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, bracket for charge air cooler to timing case/oil pan *BA09.41-P-1002-03F 
17 Remove front axle differential (7).   AR33.30-P-0525LWX
18 Remove oil pan bottom section (10).   AR01.45-P-7555MRJ 
19 Remove screws (9) in reverse numerical order to tightening procedure. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Pay attention to different lengths of screws.
Observe tightening procedure.

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, oil pan to crankcase/timing case cover *BA01.45-P-1001-01ZA 
20 Cut two threads M6 (arrows) and release oil pan (2) from crankcase by screwing in suitable screws.    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 00 84 00 Heat gun IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Thread cutters
IMPORTANT If necessary, heat the oil pan (2) in the area of the sealing surfaces using a heat gun. Thread cutters

21 If necessary, further release oil pan (2) from crankcase and remove downwards.

REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 00 84 00 Heat gun NOTES
Do not drive in tools between crankcase and oil pan (2) to loosen oil pan.
Otherwise, damage to the sealing surfaces can occur.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Apply sealant to sealing surface of oil pan (2) and, in doing so, observe notes on sealant path on the oil pan (2).

22 Check pilot bushing (50) for damage. If pilot bushing (50) is damaged:
↓
Replace pilot bushing (50).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Observe installation position (arrow).
 
23 Remove pilot bushing (50). When installing a new oil pan (2).
INSTALLATION NOTES
Pilot bushing (50) must be installed in oil pan (2).
Otherwise, the radial shaft sealing ring on the front axle differential will be damaged.
If pilot bushing (50) is not seated correctly in oil pan (2):
↓
Install pilot bushing (50) in oil pan (2) correctly.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Observe installation position (arrow).
 
CLEAN Clean     
24 Clean sealing surfaces on the oil pan (2) and crankcase. NOTES
Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
Sealing surfaces will otherwise be damaged.

    Loctite 7063 (400 ml) cleaning spray *BR00.45-Z-1046-04A 
25 Install in the reverse order.    
INSPECT Check     
26 Check Engine oil level and correct if necessary.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP18.00-P-1812MKI
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when Engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the Engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
27 Perform Engine test run. While doing so, check Engine for proper operation and leak tightness.    
28 Perform wheel alignment measurement.   AR40.20-P-0200LW
29 Install lower Engine compartment lining.   AR61.20-P-1105LW
30 Install upper Engine cover.   AR01.10-P-2405MRI
